For our 6 night stay in Switzerland we were based in Bern, the nation's small capital. This was a convenient place to stay, as it is located close to other places we visited on day trips. Even horrible weather couldn't spoil the beautiful Swiss countryside.

Unfortunately our visit to Lucerne was quite dull, because it was a public holiday and almost everything was closed.

The views from the train as we were approaching were simply breathtaking.

...this seems to be the Swiss' recipe for simply wonderful cities.

Within 5 minutes of arriving here we could see that almost everyone here wore the most expensive brands, and had the latest fashions. This guy obviously wasn't playing that game!

Just as had been the case throughout our visit, we were treated to 'off the charts' beautiful scenery.
