Yes thats right, we went to the place well known for being neutral and having great cheese, army knives, chocolate and snow. The Swiss Alps took my breathe away!
Lauterbrunnen
The first thing you should know is that the town and our campsite is at the foot of a huge mountain called Jungfrau (Young Lady). Thus, we were treated to spectacular views on arrival and in the morning.
I went to bed at a reasonable hour on the first night, but as there was a bar on the campsite, many of the youngens hit the piss. This was when I realised that it was going to be a messy tour. If only I'd known....
The next day there was an optional excursion up the mountain but I didn't go as it was too expensive. Instead, a couple of girls and I took a cable car to a smaller mountain and did a day-long hike instead. We had cups of tea at the top in a little town called Gimmelwald, and saw a massive waterfall inside a cave on the way back to camp (Trummelbach). All the cows in the fields on the hills had bells around
Up the cable carBetter than climbing up, especially when the hills are as high as these!
their necks, so it was a bit like chimes and very quiet otherwise. And lots of locals kept cages of rabbits, so we fed and patted them on the way.
After our big walk on such a sunny perfect day, we were pretty much shattered again, so went back to camp for a few quiet beers. That turned into a late night at the bar since it started raining after dinner and no-one wanted to go back to their tents. The nights in this campsite were really cold since we were surrounded by glaciers and waterfalls. I didn't sleep well, but we were on our way again on the 5th, so it didn't matter!
This time we were driving to...
Cuppa tea!It was pretty warm in the sun, and a nice cuppa chai went down a treat!
Bunnies!!Cute! Lots of houses had these cages of rabbits out the front. Pets or food I cannot say
Glide timeA few people from our trip did some extreme sports like skydiving, but I'm too cheap, I mean sensible for that kinda thing
Inside the caveThe funicular up to the top of the mountain cave was fun, but it was even colder inside the caves than it was outside!
COWS!This was a farm just down from our campsite, I can't believe how pretty this village is
The bar at our campsiteThose tags from the ceiling have names and comments from visitors, mostly Top Deck visitors like me.
