OK, good times in Greece, but good to be out of the Aegean and on to new places. Munich was Munich. Not a bad city, but nothing really special. Not trying to offend anyone out there, but it is what it is. Had a beer at the Hauphbrauhaus or however you spell it, but went out to a local beer hall with some people in the hostel that was a lot better with no tourists. Had my first purple cabbage there and first pork knuckle or whatever it was. Train left this am at 7, so not much sleep, but had an amazing night hanging with about 10 people. One was a Penn State grad, 3 Aussies, 3 from British Columbia, one from Charlotte, and a teacher from NY. INteresting mix, but we hung out from about 6pm to 1am or so until I had to leave them to hit the sack. Good times. . .
The train ride was long--6 hrs total with a switch in Zurich, but not too bad because I got to see some of the best secenery in the world with more to come tomorrow when I go to Interlaken. The Mediterranean is beautiful, but there is something about the German, Italian, and Swiss Alps. If there is such a thing as God's country, that may be it. So green with blue skies, incredible mountains, clean air, cute little villages, etc. Wow. . .as for Lucerne, it is a neat little town. Not as amazing as I remember it when I was in high school. Little streets are nice to walk around, but there are lots of towns I have been to this summer with such streets and not as expensive. Would not recommend a trip to Switzerland if you care at all what you are spending. I will probably be starving myself for a week. . .oh well. Anyway, off in the am to Interlken. Ciao. . .
