So hello friends, it has been too long. Apologies about any z or y mix ups, although not as bad as french keyboards swiss keyboards leave something to be desired. So gosh, what has happened? Thought I would leave you in suspense for a while.. guess its been almost two weeks. lets make a list.
1. said bye to ben and hopped on a ferry to france, enjoyed a delicious pasty on the way, was watched the entire time by a giant seagull, thought he was going to maim me but I made it. Made a random choice and got a train to bruges, in belgium.
2. bruges īs a lovely town! no homeless people allowed here. very clean and pretty, the horses even have bags attached to them to catch their poop before it hits the street. decided if i was going to be by myself i needed some entertainment, so i bought a sketch pad and some second hand books, turns out i grabbed a supremely depressing autobiography about growing up in apartheid.
3. After a few days i waved goodbye to the poor horses and said hello again to the lovely french trains, down to limoges to visit daddys old friend crazy mike and his wife julienne, from computervision way back in the day. Was introduced to the world of drinking and gambling, and attended my very first rock stock, 40 years of wood stock, to see mike in his rock and roll band. lovely time indeed, sad to go! but i did...
ooh also ate snails in france. yum yum
4. on to switzerland, arrived yesterday, to see anya, my second cousin, rachel, and the little ones sam and emma. and now it is time to learn a new language! german is very awkward sounding, tried to read a book to emma and she laughed at me. apparently all they eat here is cheese and chocolate. i have failed to find a problem with this.
thinking about... budapest next, then my trip is almost over, very sad.
also left a bag of junk at bens house, prudently decided the absence of my camera cord would significantly lighten my load, so no pictures for a month or so...
love to all, still alive.

Just got home from Boston. Laura now owns furniture! Her next move will require hired help. Mommy is getting too old for this plus the car is now not large enough. Stay safe and have lots of fun. Love Laura's Mommy
Hello, Avalon - I am Laura's Aunt Alice and I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your blogs on your journey thru Europe. I have to say that I lived a bit vicariously through your adventures and wished I had had such an opportunity. I hope someday to meet you face to face - feel that I sort of know you already. I understand that you intend to go to medical school. Wish you every luck with that venture & everything else. Alice Brown
PS - Go see the movie Julie & Julia - somehow I think that you would like it!
You should see the movie In Bruges. Awesome time.
Bruges is obviously the place for you. Remember how anxious you got about the plight of the homeless in San Francisco?
