July 11th:

Still not feeling 100% but it's that annoying thing where it might be hunger pangs (I ate nothing yesterday) or it might be ongoing stomach issues... so I'm having a very simple, very careful breakfast, then I might have a quick lie down to see how that goes. I'd like to get out and about because I'm heading to Milan tomorrow and I don't want Zurich to be a complete write-off!

-Later-
Zurich is looking more and more like a write-off, thanks to this stupid gastro thing. After a decent rest at the hostel I have braved the streets but I can't eat any of the nice foods I see and I'm worried about exploring too far since I just got hit with some fairly crippling stomach cramps a second ago... it's ridiculous really, when I'm at work I hardly ever get seriously sick to the point that I take sick days but now this is my second illness within 2-3 weeks!

-Slightly Later-

Well that was weird, just after I finished writing that last bit I got a tap on the shoulder, it was Orlando, the Mexican guy who got moved with me from

So the Swiss kind of like their bikes
1st class on the Prague-Nuremberg train a few days back. We hung out until it was time for him to go on a bus tour he'd booked. My stomach... well it's weird, it feels fine most of the time but then every so often I get struck with the less than pleasant sensation like my stomach has suddenly flipped upside down and back again... I guess the one vaguely positive side effect (silver lining and all that) is that I haven't had to get any Swiss francs out, this is especially good as Switzerland is hellishly expensive... it's kind of like taking a holiday at an airport.

-Later again-

Sitting in a nice (free) park next to the river, which is a spectacular shade of bluey green, as opposed to the usual brown of the rivers in other major cities like the Thames, the Seine or the Tiber.

Stomach cramps got worse so I headed back to the hostel and had a pretty good jam on a pretty crappy guitar they had sitting around there. My general feelings of the day would be; pity about the stomach aches, but I saw a little of the city, had pleasant social interactions, saved money and presumably lost weight.
Just had a chat with a pleasant Welsh couple who are in the room now, they've stayed at some pretty desperate motels by the sounds of it, makes me glad to have not had any total crap buckets.
