Hello again. Well last time I posted something on here, I was in Berlin, well, now i'm in Stockholm. But what have I been up to? The answer is lots! First up, we had the Pub Crawl! Well, lets just say I never want to hear the words Pub Crawl ever again! I got so trashed, I had be literally carried out of the third pub we went to. On the up side, everybody knew who I was and didn't have to introduce myself to anyone lol, on the down side though, I woke up with a horrid hangover and threw up a couple of times. I was all good after an hour or so, so thats was ok! The next day we headed to Copenhagen. We caught a 2 and a half hour ferry ride ... read more

Thursday 19 June 2008: Taxi to airport at 12 noon preceded by total chaos. Not only do Sweden get thrashed by Russia in the Uefa semis on Wednesday evening, but Oscar staggers home bleeding and bruised, as a result of an indescribably complicated bike accident. Spend an hour getting him plastered up ourselves after deciding that a trip to A&E for stitches willl take forever. And despite Klas' appeal to the kids to steer clear of any trouble on D-day, Max and Alex manage to find the only wasps alive and kicking in the northern hemisphere and get stung all over their faces just as our taxi rolls in the drive. Perfect timing! Rest of journey thankfully uneventful. Arrive in Hanoi at 10:30 and get our first taste of the city on the way into the ... read more

Hello mindenki! gyerekgyógyon tengetem a napjaimat, az idő nem vmi szuper...:( telefonbeszélgetés petrosszal: -hey rozi i prepared some dinner, do you want to join? -what did you cook? -some pasta with charlie. -what? -pasta with charlie. -with chilli? -no with CHARLIE. we prepared the pasta with charlie, you know, the german girl from the corridor... hehe, így esett, hogy tésztát vacsoráztunk charlieval :)))))) aztán tegnapelőtt meg betörtek a konyhánkba!!! hajnali 2 körül 3 srác bemászott az erkélyen és elkezdték kirámolni a hűtőinket, kedélyesen pizzát, szendvicseket csináltak, épp elkezdték volna elfogyasztani, amikor aztán jores, a svéd srác felébredt és kiment, teljesen kiakadt és jól elkergette őket, meg hívta a rendősréget, stb, persze azok nem tudtak semmi csinálni, szóval a konzekvencia az, hogy az erkélyajtót gondsan becsukjuk ezentúl... holnap szünet, midsum... read more

Sweden: land of endless daylight, beautiful people, and industrial strength coffee. Every morning at breakfast I have 2-3 coffees, and then the muscle under my eye starts twitching. It tastes really good though, and as quality coffee is hard to find in China, Emma and I are indulging our caffeine dependencies while we can. Breakfast is great here: cheap by Swedish standards, at 55SEK (approx $10 AUS), you can get a massive buffet of meats, breads, cheeses, fruits, and muesli lathered in yoghurt. Swedish food in general is good, healthy food with lots of fish and salad, but extraordinarily expensive. This is particularly the case with beer as well, which is also 55 SEK (approx $10 AUS) in a pub. A beer in China can be bought in a supermarket for 4 CNY (60c AUS) or ... read more

This morning right after breakfast I took Enrico walking up on Skirvo, a small mountain near my parents' house. It's not a very high mountain, only about 500 meters above sea level, but you get a fabulous view from the edge of the cliff at the top. We walked and climbed up the south-east side of the mountain through old forest, across the top and down the steep west side. It's quite hard work and we kept a high tempo in order to leave some of the mosquitoes behind. But it's worth the sweating and tripping over loose rocks, the view is beautiful! Later in the evening after having had mum's elk meat casserole, we went fishing on the lake. A storm cloud was just heading our way and the wind picked up a lot, so ... read more

Well I should have seen it coming - friday the 13th (June). Only one day after I arrived in Sweden, it all went horribly wrong. There I was killing time on the internet at Central Station in Stockholm while waiting for my train to Rättvik, when suddenly I realized that my wallet - which I had foolishly left either on top of my bag or on the desk beside the keyboard - had been stolen. Money, credit cards, everything. And since there wasn't much I could do about it once I knew it was gone, I hopped on the train anyway - cursing myself for not being more careful. So I arrived in Rättvik (in the province of Dalarna - which is famous for it's elaborately painted wooden horses) with no money and nothing to eat ... read more
