I was in Uppsala for a short time, but it was my whole reason for coming to Sweden in the first place. Being there for a job interview, I didn’t really know if I’d have any time to see anything, but I got lucky. Landing on Thursday morning, they only needed me for the interview in the afternoon, meaning I could explore on Friday morning before hopping on the train to Stockholm.
I wasn’t impressed at first, and was staying in a hotel opposite the train station, which at present is a building site - not a great first impression. However, the more I explored, the more I enjoyed the city and the atmosphere. There’s a large university in Uppsala, so the studenty vibe prevails. Whilst there, I saw the castle and the domkyrkan, and wandered past many museums and old university buidings. I didn’t want to hang around too long as I wanted to get to Stockholm, so didn’t go into anything, and was away by lunchtime. It was perfect weather, so everything was was really pretty, and I got some non-too-shabby pics on my crappy camera.
As for the job interview, I was offered it, but I also had a better offer at the same time in Glasgow, so have taken that. It’s a shame, as living in Sweden would have been fun.
