Having been made an offer I couldn't refuse, I left 30 years of (office) work behind and now 'work' outdoors.
As Nehru so neatly said, we live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.
Thus, with eyes open and asking questions, I hope to continue learning through experience and travel, as these are as education in themselves.
Happy reading - I shall be happy travelling ...

Gamla Stan - PrästgatanOne of many little streets in the old town - surprisingly easy to avoid the tourists and see the island as it should be.
Gamla Stan - GinnelOne of a number of little ginnels running between Västerlånggaten and Stora Nygatan.
Gamla Stan - Stora NygatanWarm days, clear skies, lots of flowers - this seemed very typical and so different from the February I'd spent here in Stockholm!
Gamla Stan - Kungliga SlottetAt various points around the Royal Palace, guards would stand and, following the worn tracks on the ground, march some 30 feet.
Skansen - Collecting FlowersWithin the numerous meadows in Skansen, visitors would gather flowers to make garlands for their hair. Young and old, no one was exempt.
Skansen - Waiting for the MaypoleThe crowds were gathering for the raising of the maypole on the eve of the longest day. This little girl found a way to pass the time by practicing gurning - which wasn't on the list of activities!
Skansen - Raise the MaypoleThe raising of the maypole is a central event in the Midsommarfest. Amidst cheering and clapping, the Maypole slowly made its way to the perpendicular.
Skansen - Brun BjörnThis native of Sweden and her cubs delighted the crowds at feeding time.
Skeppsholmen - Resident PeacockI'm not sure where this particular specimen lived as he was only seen once during our 4 day visit. However, although he didn't show is tail feathers, he was a very fine specimen.
