I have had the best time in Valencia but I haven’t done much at all. I find during the day it’s to hot to enjoy the city, so I just laze around

. Most days I have sat up on the terrace listened to music and had a few “drinks”, and played some DS.
Most nights I have been hanging out with people that I have met and head down the square once the terrace closes, the square is great fun for people watching. The other night there was a fight between 2 of the guys that wander around and sell beers. It was more like a clown act though, one guy was running away and kept falling over whilst the other guy kept throwing swings but couldn’t quite catch up. The stray dog just added to the whole event with its constant barking while it was chasing the 2 men, the only thing needed was the circus music…hilarious!!
Last night Drew and I headed down to the square just to relax and have a few “drinks”. These African guys sat down next to us casually, we were a little edgy as we have heard a lot of people get pick pocketed in Spain. 1 of the guys asked where we were from and just made general chit-chat, we actually found that they were a bunch of really nice guys that had moved from Gandi in Africa. They said that they were heading down to a little bar called “The Chillout” and asked if we wanted to go and get some “drinks”. I consulted with Drew and we thought that we should be OK but if they start to lead us down an unpopulated street or alley we would run…LOL. So we went to this bar and it was AWESOME! Nice dim coloured lighting, really cool relaxed music, low tables with cushions on the floor to sit and the staff were really nice. As we were all sitting down I had the option of 2 seats and I picked the 1 against the wall which worked out really well as Drew took the other seat. Drew was sitting next to Mohammad and I was sitting next to the other African that couldn’t speak English, drew had his ears beaten by Mohammad as he would not shut up. While Drew was being spoken at, I was just chilling out listening to the tunes that were being played

. Mohammad gave us his email and phone number and said if you ever need help in Spain or Africa give him a call, he is also a rapper and gave us a CD that he had recorded, he was so nice

. We hung out there for an hour or so and then decided it was time to head back to the hostel, and we watched Pineapple Express as Drew had never seen it!
On my last day I almost felt obligated to get out of the hostel and see some more of the city, but hey…I’m on holiday I can do whatever I want, so I didn’t

. I relaxed on the terrace, went down to the common room and watched “A Clockwork Orange”. Everybody started retuning from there days at the beach or doing whatever so then we just spoke and had a good time. Around midnight I suggested we go back to “The Chillout” as it was just around the corner from our hostel, so Drew, an English couple I had met and myself proceeded to the bar to have a few “drinks”. I wish we had somewhere like that in Perth, it would be a great place to finish after a really big night.
As a conclusion of Valencia…I LOVED IT! I preferred it to Barcelona as it isn’t as busy and not as big. I loved the main square because at night it is busy and there is so much happening, the food is great and the locals I did meet were pretty nice (other than the bad arse guy in carkies). I think the other thing that made Valencia was the amount of people that I met and got to speak shit with, I had a lot of fun and made some pretty good friends. Yet again I add more people to my list that I can stay with from all around the world
