Blink and you miss it. 6 months gone in a heartbeat. At least that's the way it seems. It's almost six months now since we came to Mataro. In that time we have had 5 weeks in Libya and a couple of weeks in the UK, but that doesn't really explain the lack of blogs from a habitual blogger. The Bull Fight! Picture the image. Its all about one man with sharp instruments taking on a disoriented animal, resulting in the satisfaction of the bloodthirsty crowd. In Spain, I have only seen the pretty disturbing spectacle on the TV and don´t really want to see it live. The bull seemed to die a pretty gruesome and slow death. In Catalonia, bull fighting is pretty well now banned. Castells! Picture the image. It´s all about collaborative participation of a team depending on each other for nothing more than the achievement of completing a feat of balance and strength. Today the castelles team of Mataró celebrated their 15 years anniversary. A castell is a human tower built traditionally in festivals at many locations within Catalonia. I recently travelled from Tunis to Barcelona, but that's not where I was heading. From the amazing airport I took the train out to the town of Mataro, about 45 minutes North of Barcelona. My expectations of a provincial town were very low, but it turned out to be a fantastic place. My first few days were work related. I attended a conference on Aviation English where I presented a workshop on using videos in the classroom. It went very well and it was great to meet some friends again and to make new ones. I think everyone enjoyed the conference even though opinions on the way forward in the industry were sometimes divided. The social side of things was, of course, fabulous!
