There was this building that I had been chasing and even had Mick on the case in Melbourne looking for it´s location. I swear it was in Girona in Spain.
So the plan became that my first two nights in Spain would be in Girona and surely my super memory wouldn´t let me down. I arrived to find a lovely town with multi coloured casa´s stacked along the river that pushes through its centre past Roman bath house ruins and a Cathedral. I headed into the Tourist office and in pidgeon spanish supplimented by sign language described the timber ´cocoon´like pavilion structures that I was chasing. Surely an Australian architect chasing a Japenese designed building in Cataluyan Spain wasn´t too hard. No go.
(Mick also told me by text that no one in the world knew what I was talking about and in other matters he was going to propose to Carmel because I wasn´t in Melbourne to stop him, but that´s another story).
So I settled into the hostel and due to my lack of architectural entertainment wondered about what to do in Girona. Then after meeting an English graphic designer and finding that it was only
a 40 min bus trip to the Costa Brava beaches the next two days were taken care of. Between beers in the evenings and a day at the very sunny beach, more beers then a trip to Figurese´s Salvador Dali Museum the time came to train it to Batheloner.
(some artistic licence has been taken in regard to Mick Moloney for the sake of the adventure, thanks Mickos)
