Wooow, what a couple of crazy days. Friday Moniek and I went to the center to buy clothes for San Fermin. You are supposed to wear all white clothes, with a thin white scarf around your waist and a red handkerchief around your neck. (Supposedly if you dont peope will throw eggs at you, but I never saw that happen) After 3 or 4 hours I had bought a white shirt and white capris.
We came back home and started getting ready for San Fermin. Greg was having a bunch of people over for dinner, so around 9:30 they started to show up as we were finishing up. By the time we sat down to eat it was 10:30 so Moniek and I had to scarf down our food and we left around 11. We had to be at the travel bus by Palacio Real by 12 midnight because it was supposed to leave at 12:30.
When the bus we needed to take to the metro came we got on, after a minute we asked the driver which stop we needed and he told us we were going the wrong way to reach the metro. We got off at the next stop and waited for the bus. After maybe 10 minutes we realized the bus had stopped running for the night and we started to freak out. It takes about 20, 25 minutes to reach the metro, and then 40, 45 minutes from the metro to our stop. We were sure we wouldnt have enough time to make it, so we started frantically looking for a cab. Thankfully, after only a couple of minutes we found one and he took us to the Palace for only 15 euoros. However we didnt see a bus or anyone, so we drove around the Palace and ended up back in front and just got out. We saw a group of people, but they werent all dressed in white, but we asked them and they said they were indeed waiting.
The bus didnt show up until 1230 and we didnt leave until 1 am. We got to Pamplona at 7 am and headed for the square, (after pausing with our group to take some pictures). There were sooooo many people (mostly drunk) that, I am very sad to tell you, I could not see anything!! All the way to Pamplona and I didnt even see a bull. I saw glimpses of people running by, but that was it. Oh well...
After that we split up because some people were going to the arena to watch them kill the bulls (which they didnt even kill them we found out later!!) and Moniek and me didnt want to see that, so we went and bought some bread and cheese and made sandwiches. We met up with our group about 40 minutes or so later and went to this big field to drink wine and relax. After a bit we went to a bar and some people had lunch and we got a beer. Then our group went out into the street where people were partying and residents were throwing water down on eager people below, it was pretty crazy and a lot of fun. After that we split up and went with our friend Rodrigo from El Salvador to a park to just relax for a bit. We met this chill guy “Nile” and hung out with him for a while just kinda bar hopping and having a good time. Around 9 pm I think we went to a kebab restaurant place to grab some food since we hadnt eaten since those sandwiches at like 9 am. We had a delicious falafel, then our 2 friends went back to their hostel to rest so Moniek and I went with this group of Basque people we met at the restaurant and went to a couple of clubs to dance. We stayed out all night with them drinking and dancing, it was a lot of fun. At 530 am we made it back to the bus and headed home. We got in around 11:30 am or 12 and Moniek and I went home and showered our filthy selves, ate, and took a nap! And now were planning out the rest of our southern Spain trip.

Cuando llegamos a las 7, fuimos a ver “the running of the bulls“ después de tomar fotos. Ah well...
