...is not enough! Some friends and I took the overnight train last Friday to arrive in Barcelona Saturday morning. We were incredibly fortunate to know people in the area. Molly's Aunt's foreign exchange student from when she was in high school and his wife. Their names are José Luis y Raquel and they are amazing! they actually met us at the train stations, helped us find our hotel, showed us the city, went out to lunch with us and basically gave us their entire Saturday! AND, Raquel is five months pregnant. Wow.
We went out to lunch with them at a very fancy restaurant (they had never been, and didn't realize it would cost so much.) It was very good. I had Arroz Negra, orange duck and Flan!
I had no idea what the Arroz Negra was (black rice) but they said it was a typical seafood dish, made from what I heard as tinto and Calamari (wine and squid) Sounded pretty good! In Spain, I have had quite a bit more Calamari then I ever have before and have grown to like it. Well, I had never had it like this and to be frank, probably won't again..
Turns out, they said "tinta DE calamari"...so INK of SQUID...even though the rice was literally black, it wasn't until I had eaten half of the plate and hadn't actually found any Calamari, that I realized exactly what I was eating...it was actually pretty good, if a little strange. Turned my teeth a little black. :-)
Sunday, we saw all the big sites: Sagrada Familia, Casa Milá, Las Ramblas, everything! (practically) we were pretty amazed by ourselves with how much we fit in! We left for Granada Sunday night and arrive Monday morning, just in time for our finals. We saw so much, I just can't put it all down here! I will add more later when I have more time....(and I will add pics!)
