1:00pm-1:30pm
Woke up, no one was around the hostel, so I decided to do a little exploring by myself. The girl at the front desk of the hostel gave me some recommendations, she said to get a bike so that was first on my list to do. Well actually, second. First was to eat, but I'll get into that in a minute. So I was off on my way, with this feeling that today would be a good day.
1:30pm-2:00pm
My dad had asked me if I tried any of the local food when I talked to him the previous night. I said no, and thought it'd probably be a good idea, as well as a nice change as I've been eating kabob and chinese food since I got to Spain (it's the cheapest stuff to eat!!) So I felt a little adventurous
and went to the first tapas place I saw. The menu was only in Spanish, but the waitress was extremely nice and took about 30 minutes to help me decipher everything. So I picked 3 things, meatballs, squid and some pasta salad. Take a guess as to which one of those 3 tasted like puke, noooo, not the squid, nooo not the meatballs either, the SALAD!! I am not exaggerating when I say it tasted like puke, it literally did taste like puke. 12 euros, a sick and hungry stomach later I was not a very happy man, guess I was wrong about the "good day" feeling. BUT, right down the street I found the place where I got the orgasmic noodles in Amsterdam (Walk to the Wok), what a sight for sore eyes!! 5 euros and a full stomach later, I was now much much happier. Maybe it could be a good day after all! I proceeded to the bike rental place.
2:30pm-6:00pm
Got to the bike place, rented a bike and was off, my first place to visit was the Sangra de Familia, a very famous church. On my way there, I made a couple stops, one
was to eat in a park, the other was to look at the Arch De Triomph. I get to the Sangra De Familia, took a little while as it was a ways away but it was worth it. It definite was not as grand as the Notre Dame Cathedral but it seemed much more detailed and had a style all it's own, I was happy I made the trek. I thought it was interesting that it is actually still under construction as you can see in the pics as it looked like a super old church. I parked my bike and sat on a bench for a few minutes to relax and look at the church. While I was o nthe bench, this girl came up to me asking for a pen. I normally wouldn't respond, but she looked and sounded very American, so I looked around in my bag, while I was doing this, she told me that her friend had just gotten robbed. I felt really bad for them, especially since I couldn't find my pen. Kinda scary actually! After that walked around the church and took some pictures, sadly enough my camera died. I went back to
my hostel to charge my battery for a bit, by the time it was all said and done I had to return my bike and didn't get to see the other sites I wanted to see. On my way back I stopped by a supermarket to grab some food, wanted to keep it cheap for a few meals as I felt bad for wasting that money earlier on the throw up food. Bought some sandwhich stuff. It's been interesting going to foreign supermarkets. You don't really know if the meat is cooked or deli meat, they look very similiar! I found a deli section and luckily the lady spoke some English so I was able to get the right stuff. Was exhausted from the 3 hours of biking, so I went back to the hostel and took a nap
7:30pm-8:30pm
I was woken up by my room mate, Matt (the guy I hung out with last night) he wanted to grab something to eat. I tag along, we went to go eat, now I'm hangin out at the hostel, gunna go out in a bit, will update blog later!
