Barcelona provides a whole new culinary experience. You'll be spoilt for choices.
Food that still lingers in my mind
1. Chocolate Caliente con churros (hot chocolate with churros). Tried the one at Cafe de la Opera along Las Ramblas. The chocolate is sooo rich and thick, yet not too sweet. Goes perfectly well with freshly fried churros.
2. Paella. Mixed paella, black ink rice and seafood paella. La Fonda and Les Quinze serve pretty good (and affordable) stuff. Be prepared to queue though.
3. Figeus Noodle. One of the catalan dishes. Spagehettini (or bee hoon in our context), served in a pan with seafood, meat and some garlic cream. Definitely prefer this to any pasta.
4. Pulpo gallego. Boiled octopus with some paprika and olive oil. Don't usually like octopus. Always have the impression that octopus are hard and chewy. But this pulpo gallego certainly changed my idea of octupus. Have never tried such excellent octupus. The seasoning, paprika and olive oil bring out the "sweetness" of the octopus. And the texture of the octopus is just right, not too soft and not too chewy. Perfect.
5. A visit to Tapas bar is certainly a must!

Sauted mushroom, pimenton rellenos (pepper stuffed with tuna), grilled langostine (razor clam), deep fried squid, grilled mussels, anchovies, spanish omelette, cheese topped baguette, washed down with Sangria. Heaven! Recommends Ciudad Condal. Cosy ambience, warm service, great food!
6. Pig's trotter. Not something i enjoy normally. But i must say that the pig's trotter serve in La Fonda is good. Stewed till it's soft, really melts in your mouth.
7. Seafood. Fresh seafood everywhere. The clams are good on its own just by grilling, no seasoning needed.
8. Gazpacho (Cold vegetable soup). Sweet sour savoury vegetable creamy tomato-based soup, served cold. Taste is pretty good. But I still prefer my soup hot.
9. Crema Catalana. Similar to Creme Brulee. One of the more local dessert available. Strong vanilla taste with caramelised sugar.
Armed with my spanish cookbook, very enthusiatic to try out some of the recipe. Wonder if I can acquire that unforgettable taste? :)
