After a mosquito disrupted night we decided to head into Orgiva to explore it properly. Last night there seemed to be a lot of mossies in our room and I woke up in the middle of the night to find the light on and Tim looking angry! Apparently they kept buzzing in his ear! He managed to squash quite a few with a newspaper but there were still a couple in there somewhere which kept buzzing in our ears every time we were drifting off to sleep. Tonight we will ensure that no more get in. When we looked at the bedroom walls this morning we could see the corpses of squashed mozzies on the ceilings and walls so we clearly not the only people to have had this problem. We decided to drive to the ... read more

After a long and somewhat eventful trip we have made it to Spain! It was all going well until we got to security. Obviously we have more luggage than you can imagine – only the kitchen sink is missing. In our defence most of it is Emily's, she has one big case and me and Tim have to share the other one. We loaded our mountains of bags and coats onto the belt and went through as normal. No beeping so we went to pick our stuff up. At this point we were asked to wait whilst our pushchair and car seat were swabbed – all perfectly normal for items that can't be scanned. Set below the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains Granada melded our recent Moroccan experiences with Spanish, Moorish and gypsy culture. The number one draw card is the captivating, sensual and mystical palace-fortress ‘the Alhambra’ which overlooks the city. It is one of the most impressive pieces of architecture and art either of us have ever seen - it’s amazing! We wondered around in the buildings and gardens for hours but could’ve done so for days. Clarissa also chased graffiti artists around the streets snapping walls and doors for pieces to go into her fourth companion coffee ... read more

Kaliyoga Retreat, Spain These last two and a bit days at the Kaliyoga Retreat have been surprisingly full and rewarding. I found this wonderful place through a volunteer exchange program, which means in return for a few hours work each day I receive free accommodation and food. This suits me well as I'm completely broke but desperately wanting to stay longer in Spain in order to learn the language and absorb this culture I have fallen in love with!! On Day 1 we learnt the redistribution business. Big pile of rocks gets redistributed into long line of rocks. Big pile of gravel gets redistributed onto driveway! It was tough work, causing me feel all the more sympathy for those poor concentration camp victims (Sorry, I had only just watched Schindlers List recently). But looking back at ... read more
