Inside the Cathedral

The Cathedral is more commonly refered to as ¨El Mezquita¨ (the mosque) because thats what it originally was, hence the arches and designs that are still there.
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words... So I´ll write a little and post several pics :)

This past weekend was a fun one. On Saturday, we went as a large group (70+) to Córdoba and toured the Cathedral and the city. On Sunday, a group of 8 of (including myself) went to the beach city of Nerja. Nerja is about 2 hours by bus from Granada so we cought an early bus (7:15) to take us down. The city is by far the prettiest of any I´ve seen in Spain. The mountians literally lead into the sea in some places and the Mediterranean is absolutely gorgeous.

When we got there, we found a little market that was, suprisingly, open on a Sunday, so we got food and drinks for the day. We then made our way to one of Nerja´s beautiful beaches and spent the next six hours there. I managed to get burnt on my back and legs but that is a small price to pay for a day at the beach.

Around 4pm, we headed out to the Caves of Nerja (someone in the group claims that they are the 3rd most

visited site in Spain, although I don´t believe it). The caves are huge and have a walking path through them. The entrance price was a bit steep (€7) but they were really cool. There is a part where they have ancient cave drawings, but it was closed off for restoration. After seeing the caves, we took a bus back into Nerja and then a bus back to Granada.

This Thursday is Corpus Christi so the whole city is gearing up for one big party. There is a fair all week, bull fights every evening, and a parade on Wednesday and Thursday. I´ve been told that for the city of Granda, this week is almost as big as Holy Week so that should make it fun. On top of that, Spain´s first World Cup game is Wednesday at 3pm and I don´t think I can tell you how heavily anticipated that is. Since this week is so important, I don´t have classes Wed, Thurs, or Friday so my friends and I are going to travel to a cost city called Tarifa and make a day trip into Morocco on Saturday... I´ll post pics from that next week! ¡Hasta luego!

This is the main altar inside the chuch. The depth isn´t very well represented in this picture... it´s actually a lot bigger than it appears.

There were more flowers in Cordoba then I´ve ever seen in my life. Nearly every street is has several pots like these just sticking out of the walls...

Any place where you can get beaches and mountains in a single picture is a good place in my book.

This is the only shot of the beach I have beacuse... well... I never was able to find a shot that would exclude the old topless women. Regardless, these are my friends trying to do yoga.

No real reason here. There were some pretty gardens outside the caves so I took a few pics.

FYI
Cold Stone has an entirely new line - ice cream shakes. You should probably plan to spend at least an extra 10 minutes of decision-making time on all future trips. =) Oh, and yays for a week off from school! I'd like a week off from work! Your pictures are all pretty sweet, particularly the cave ones. This trip is really bringing out the inner photographer in you!
