On a pocket book of Spain we bought in Adelaide had an amazing scene of the city of Ronda. So we decided to visit that. It is a city perching on the top of a cliff. It was very exciting to find the exact place where the photo was made. Huge gorges connected by Roman bridges and fantastic scenery. In this part of Spain there is no English at all. Even young people have no idea apart from some that have studied overseas or in an English speaking country. It makes it so interesting when you order food. You often hope you get what you order. People here are fantastic. very helpful. You look at the map and they come to you and start talking to you in Spanish. You tell them no Spanish but they ... read more

A lot of things have kept me up at night but I could never imagine that it might be the huff and stamp of a hundred bulls outside my bedroom window. Morning couldn’t come quickly enough. Looking back over this last paragraph, I fear it is open for misinterpretation. What I meant to say is this: I couldn’t wait for the sun to come up, over the faintly illuminated hills and the vast landscape of olive groves. I could sense a Best Day coming. But before I launch further into hyperbole, let me explain that we are now in the hills of southern Spain, on a ranch famous for raising prize-winning bulls, with miles of rocky terrain between us and the nearest town. Getting straight to the point, I am not a fan of bull-fighting. I ... read more

Although all the province of Jaen is pretty :P I show one of the most visited cities, Cazorla, where the second river of Spain has its origin. For such a small town there are a surprising number of three and four star hotels and countless rural guest houses Cazorla is the entry point and base for visits to the Natural Park of Sierras de Cazorla Segura y las Villas, a vast protected area of magnificent river gorges and forests. Spain's second longest river, the Guadalquivir has its source in the mountains to the south of the settlement. The town is constructed around three main squares, the Plaza de la Constitución, the Plaza de la Corredera (or de Huevo, "of the Egg", because of its shape), and the Plaza Santa Maria. This last square is the oldest ... read more

Back to school for the last week of classes. Weird that I´ll be leaving Sevilla in less than 2 weeks. This weekend was a lot of fun. Friday we woke up early and met at the train station at 8am. Me, Beth, kelly, Sam and Brock rented a car for the weekend to drive 3 hours to Cazorla which is North East of Sevilla. The drive was pretty smooth with a few detours in some little towns... but we ended up making it to the lodge early afternoon. We went there with the intention of renting a tent for the weekend because Beth has a travel Andalucia book that has this place in it that said we could rent tents. Well, aparently... they didn´t. So... we ended up getting a cabin for the weekend, which was ... read more
