Dia de Andalucia…No Classes! Score! I signed up to play in a Staff vs. CLM students futbol game…No, I did not just spell football wrong…We played futbol….soccer to all of you Americans reading this! So, for the first time in about oh, 10 years I played soccer. And, the students won! lol We kicked all those old men teachers butts! The score was 3 to 2 at half time and ended 6 to 5. It was fun. I played defense mostly, though they put me in the goal for a little while…because we were working on a rotating thing, and of course I let the first goal score for the teachers…deflected off of one of my own teammates legs…right between my legs! I still can’t believe I didn’t stop that darn ball! But, oh well…sports never were really my thing! I think I’ll stick to the more musical activities. It was a blast though…the weather was beautiful! Must have been in the 70s, on a turf field, got a little sunburnt…In February! And if you’re going to be in Spain you HAVE to play soccer at least once, right?
After the game we returned back home where Monica was waiting for us. We were going to go to one of her friend’s houses for a party. So, Laura and I changed really quick and we headed out. We went to her friends house where there were about 6 or 7 of us. Apparently, this was a wine tasting party…each person brought a bottle of wine, then they gave everyone a glass and they rated each wine. Now, I’m not a big drinker, and wine is particularly not my favorite…but you just cannot avoid it here! So, I had just a little of all the wines…funny enough, the one everyone hated was my favorite!
So, at about 5:00 we went back to Monicas to get our bags and head for the airport. Our flight was at 8:00, so we had plenty of time. We waited for the bus, which of course wasn’t supposed to come until 6:00…so now we’re getting a little close…but we were still okay, the bus only takes about 20 minutes to get to the airport. So, we were all good, right up until the moment we realized that we had been told incorrectly by two different bus drivers that this was the stop for the airport bus…and as the bus blew right past us we realized we had a problem. So, we ended up catching a 25 euro taxi to the airport. A bit more than the 3 euros I had budgeted for the bus! Anyway, we get to the airport to find out that our flight isn’t until 9:00 and it’s delayed. So, we could have easily waited for the 7:0 bus and still made it with plenty of time to spare. But, there is a bright side… I have finally found a way to download the Grey’s Anatomy episodes here, so we had lots of time to sit in the airport and watch! We watched two episodes before deciding to save the third and last one for the plane ride. So, finally at about 10:00 we were headed to London.
We landed in London at about 1:30 am. At about 2:00 we were in a taxi looking for a hotel. We found one for 50pounds. A little pricy, but it had breakfast, in room bathroom, and two beds…and at about 2:00 when you’ve been up since 8:00 you’ll take just about anything available! lol
