Much to our disgust we boarded our train to the Tatras straight after our train to Bratislava from Budapest, to find it was absolutely chocker block!! However we were very lucky to find a cargo carraige that we were allowed to sit in! So we had a very pleasant ride sprawled out with the big sliding doors open watching the beautiful Slovakian countryside roll past.
When we finally arrived in Terchova we went to the nearest pension\hotel to ask where the one we were book at was. Apparently the place we booked at had never heard of us so for a while it looked like we were in a bit of a pickle. It was 11pm and the hotel we were at was fully booked however the guy behind the desk said if the booking they were waiting for did not turn up by 12am, we could have the room. Luckily we got it and so we had a cheap as, but nice hotel room.
The next day after a nice sleep and brekky, Chris and Luke managed to drag me out for a 'small hike.' 7 hours later we had hiked up to the peak of a mountain
that was 1600m high! It was possibly the most physically devestating things ive ever done!!! Climing to the very top section was basically rock climbing. Once we got to the top, we saw a massive storm closing in (precisely why i didnt want to go up in the first place!!!) that ended up drenching us from head to toe. Ive come out of the shower dryer than i when i came down that mountain it was intense. However all in all, a fun day and an experience i will never forget, nor repeat.
The next day we thought we'd let our bodies recover and sat by the river and ate and drank for several hours before our train back to Bratislava!
