Day 16
Lviv - Kiev
We decided not to stop at Kiev as it was more of an industrial/buisiness city than somewhere to see so thought we'd just go there then straight through to Moscow although it wasn't as quick as we'd hoped!!
We didn't know wht time the train was to Kiev only knew there was 4 a day so went there early hopefully to catch an early one.. However th next train was 8 that evening so after finally getting the ticket office lady to understand what we wanted we had a 10 hour wait in the station (it was 3 miles from anywhere with nowhere to store our luggage so couldn't venture out)..
Also they don't do prawn cocktail crisps but crab?! And all there food in any cafe is sat on the counter then when you order it they microwave it YUCK!! So everything is soggy.. I looked up the train from Moscow and hoped we could get the 14:35 as we got to Kiev at 06:30.. Undoubtably the most boring day yet and it was still raining!!
Day 17
Kiev - Moscow
Arriving in Moscow i smelt like pure ass.. It took a while to fnd the right window with someone that didn't just shout at us or shrug and ignore us!! We were tired and on finding out that we couldn't get a train til 20:15 i thought i was gna cry another long wait at a station!!
We attempted to put our bags in the station but again just got shouted at and they pointed to a sign which we couldn't read!! So we headed out of the station where Pete and Adelle had Mcdonalds (they dont do Mcd's breakfast abroad?) there was no way i could stomach it that early..
We sat around for an hour hen decided it would be best to go to a hostel get some sleep and a shower so went to one in the book only to find out they were fully booked but did allow us to shower for free (we must have smelt really bad!!).. We hung about at the hostel for a while and then headed back to the station (it was still raining).. At this point i was just drained of any energy and getting shouted at in a foreign language i just stand and let then finish then walk off!! The rain always makes things seem worse just can't wait to get to St. Petersburg and the TRans Siberian Rail we have booked!!
Finally after 14 hours it was time to get on the train and apart from being woken up for passport control i slept really well..
Day 18
Moscow - St Petersburg
As we head back to Moscow after St Petersburg we figured thee was no point doing it twice so we decided to get the train straight there also we were booked in a hotel on the 20th.. It took us a long time to find the ticket office we needed.. Eventually found it and the train again wasn't until 8pm, but there was a big shopping centre office to kill time in.. After spending a few minutes inside we realised it wasn't a cheap place.. It had a supermarket at the bottom and an ice rink on the top floor!!
We headed for the supermarket to get some food then back to the station.. Also found out i couldn't get my malaria tablets so a bit annoying just means we'll have to be quicker in Laos than we wanted but nevermibd..
After a while got bored again so headed back to the shopping centre where i found a Topshop Woop Woop!! Happiest ive been in a couple of days (how sad is that!)..
Decided to find the platform our train was on and quickly realised there were no trains leaving this station to St Petersburg.. Turns out in Russia they have different stations for different destinations so a Finalnd station Moscow sation etc.. Lucky we looked early and so had time to get to our station and board the train..
I was so happy the last long wait was over and now we were 3/4 star all the way!!

Hi Nance, sounds like its comming together a bit now and lady luck is starting to smile on you. Did you manage to get one of those funny russian hats?. Friend of mine went to moscow for the champions league final, he said it seemd like every chelski supporter had one. The photos were funny all these blokes in chelski shirts and big furry Russian hats.
Went out with your ma and pa and rest of the mob on Sat to the ball at Lukes Rugby club. Was a good night, your dad was cracking me up.There was a couple who were doing sur-rock dancing, and he could not keep his eyes of them. I think he was obviously looking for some new moves. Mind you I think the next move he was going to have was turing is head back around without him getting a crick in it (Poor old sod). Im one to talk I am up the quacks today to have a lump on my elbow looked at. Your mums told me it's something called a Ganglian. I dont know what the feck that is but it sounds like something out of an Alien film. Apparently according to yur Mum you cure it by hitting it with a hammer !. Still at least if I go to the doctors he can answer that question about arse and elbows which according to jacqui I have never known the answer to.
Look forwatd to your next post, take care, and be good
Al.
