Today started out like any other day at the hospital, although Sharon finally started working with us. She had originally signed up as a journalism volunteer, but the project director was really irresponsible, and didn’t give her much to do, so she switched to care and community instead. Anyway, one of the kids, Luciano, was especially fun today because when I opened his crib to let him out, he ran into my arms and gave me a great big hug! Then he squirmed around until I let him down, at which point he ran around the room and would burst into giggles when I would run in front of him to stop him from trying to escape! He was so adorable!
After the hospital, I went to the office to check my mail, then Kayleigh, Leonie and I went to meet Sara at the Black church. We snuck in with some tour group that was already lined up outside and ended up not even having to pay . . . hah! It was a pretty church, but they appear to have renovated the burnt part, so there really wasn’t all that much to see. I’m kind of glad we didn’t pay.
Afterward, Kayleigh and I explored the old medieval military fortifications on the hill behind Elisabeta’s house. It was a really beautiful view, and we took lots of pictures. When we came back down, we bought flowers for woman’s day (which is tomorrow) to give to Elisabeta. Then we went to get hot chocolate in a small café in the center before going home for dinner.
Later that night, we went out for Sara’s last Friday night out at Pub Rossignol, so she could see her “hot waiter boy”, Sorin, one last time before she went home. Unfortunately, he wasn’t even working that night, so she was a little disappointed. It may have been for the best though, anyway (She has admired him from afar for 4 months, and nothing has really come of it). No one really drank much because we were all saving for Saturday, which was her real last night, but we ordered 2 pizzas that I split with Mikkel and Sara split with her friend Maura. Connie asked if she could have a small piece of mine, but ended up taking a full quarter of my half! Luckily though, Mikkel is a nice guy and gave me a little bit more from his half. We also made plans to hike up Mt. Timpa the next day. Soon after, Kayleigh and I left with the intention of going home, but then Kayleigh got a craving for chocolate, so we went to Fantasia to get ice cream. As we were finishing, Sara, Leonie, Connie and Alison walked in, and Sara made a big deal about us trying to sneak away and do something without them. Haha, I guess it did kind of look like that!
