Hi everyone!
My message today is two-fold... to tell you about what's been going on, and to ask you to pray some more! :)
What a great day today! Els and I did groceries and cooking for the whole crew again. We had such an experience in the grocery store! Several gypsy men and women came barreling down the very narrow isle and started pressing their carts against us for us to move! We weren't sure what to think, and were probably looking a little shocked at them... they just kept on barreling! I tried to move out of the way quickly, and the guy just pushed his cart against me! I said, "excuse me", and he just repeated what I said and a few more words and kept doing what he was doing! Then a few minutes later they came back and expected us to move for them again! I couldn't believe it! I think I understand why there is a bit of animosity between the Romanians and Gypsies! It's a good thing that God has been working in my heart for many years, otherwise I think I would of had a few things to say to them
instead of moving out of their way!
Oh, I got to help build an outhouse! The guys finished one at the place where Peter and Hayley and family are going to move soon, and then we built one for a little church at another gypsy village. We'll be transporting it there when it is completed.
Cory Hunt did an amazing children's ministry this afternoon... he had the kids (about 28 gypsy children) and our children, do whatever he asked them to do. They were hugely noisy and then as quiet as a mouse through the message he brought them. And, then of course, got them all excited with games of soccer. He brought the soccer balls from Canada as they only had one popped soccerball to play with in this village... what fun and excitement in the air! All around him the rest of the crew were working away! Demolition, mowing, weed whacking, building, masonry, building shelves, etc. etc. The crew left the cabana at about 7:00 am and didn't return until about 6:30 pm. We're all tired, but the excitement is still there.
Joni and Larissa (one of the team) are staying with Rita, one of
the workers of CAIRD tonight and tomorrow night the village Lunca, about 45 minutes drive away. What an experience! No hot water, no bathroom, and no shower! Should be interesting to hear her stories!
I was asked to speak at a meeting on Friday morning. This is a meeting of Romanian mothers who have taken in orphaned or abondoned Romanian or Gypsy children. I suggested that Els speak since she has adopted little Mark from Russia, and she could probably relate to more of their journey in this. I was also asked to sing the song that God gave me(Rita has translated it into Romanian) and speak about perserverance in raising children - and relationships with them. So, as it stands now, I will be doing that, and Els plans on speaking about her experiences with Mark. I really would appreciate your prayers. If we speak our own words, it is empty and nothing! Please pray that we would hear and understand what the Holy Spirit tells us, and that hearts would be touched - because of His touch. We serve such a faithful God! He hears and answers! We are so thankful to have so many that faithfully
pray for us!
You all mean so much to us!
'Til we meet again,
Jane
