Buna! Yes, that's the greeting in Romanian!
We're here on site now, and eager to start our week...brushing up on a few Romanian phrases! Worshipped with a very small group in the village Lunca today, where we'll also be working this week. Terribly run down, tragically poor....it's impossible to imagine conditions like this unless you see it with your own eyes. On our way home from church, our leader suddenly stopped at a little old couples house. The little old lady was standing outside her fence waiting for us to drive by, holding a huge boquet of lilacs, which she then handed out to all the girls. We all got invited in, and were expected to eat Easter bread and boiled eggs with them. The little old couple were so incredibly sweet, and we even exchanged a few Romanian words! As it is Easter here now, they have their own traditions. One such interesting tradition is that the boys get to spray the girls with perfume whenever they want on Easter Monday and Tuesday. They say that by the end of the day you can smell horrid!
It was a very unique experience worshipping when you don't understand the language...now we
know how our kids felt last week...except they didn't have the privelage of translators! We were also able to sing along (in English) with some of the songs that we knew...it was amazing, I can't find the words to express it!
We're actually out of our camper for the week, they had a whole little house (Casa Tatalui) set up for us on the compound. It's wonderful having a little more space!
It's been really special having the whole group here...LOTS of life! LOTS of laughing! and enough love to go around!
Once again, blessings to you all! We really depend on and appreciate your prayers.
Love,
Jane and family
