The building of Hotel Dom Henrique was originally a bold project of 2 famous architects from Porto, Arq. Pádua Ramos and Arq. Carlos Loureiro, who had planned the construction of an office building, which would be the first high-raise building in the city made with concrete. Only after being already built it was turned into a Hotel, after the proprietary, Mr. Afonso Pinto de Magalhães, came to the conclusion that the city needed a good 4 star Hotel, being inaugurated in 1973.
