Happy Birthday to Kim's little sister Lisa! She is 19 today!
Due to our late night, we slept in a little (8:30 instead of 6:30). This visit to Lisbon, Portugal is longer than when we went to Ponta Delgada, so we had some time to spare. When we got off the ship, we went thought the customs building and got some maps to try to find our way out to the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. We walked past the cab drivers calling out "City Center?" to us and said no thank you. Then we tried to read the maps and figure out public transportation. After about 10 minutes, we decided that public transportation on our own would not be easy to do, and we definitely did not want to miss our ship by being stranded in a different part of the city. We decided to take the cabbies' offer/suggestions to go to the city center to wander, look at the sights, and find an internet cafe. It took us only 45 minutes to find an Internet cafe this time. We updated our blog and wrote some emails, wandered some more and took a cab back to the ship. Christine had brilliantly
asked the first cabby to write down the name of the ship terminal that we should ask to be taken back to. After she asked if he knew Spanish, because he did not know English, she wrote out her question on paper and drew a boat. He understood and wrote for us where we needed to go. If we had not asked, we may have never found our ship since there are other cruise boats at different terminals along the coast. We made it back smoothly despite the fact that our cabby nearly killed us by driving like a maniac.
When we got back, we had lunch on the back deck. Then we went on the 14th deck to lay in the sun. It was very windy so we only stayed out for an hour. We put on warmer clothes and watched the ship as it pulled out of the harbor. As we were leaving, we went under a suspension bridge. Our ship is so tall that we only cleared it by about 5 feet. We went in and ate dinner. Afterwards we took an hour long nap, which ended up being a 3 hour nap because Kimīs alarm clock
sucks at life. We missed the comedy show, so we showered to get the sunscreen smell off and then went up to the Spinnaker lounge for 70s Disco night. There was a Gloria Gaynor and John Travolta dancing contest. Some of the people really got into it so it was very entertaining. Then Christine went dancing with Miguel and Kim went back to the room to sleep because she had a debilitating migraine.
Side note: In response to Jimīs comment---We are not experienced bloggers yet--plus the last computer was locked and we could not upload pictures, so no worries our friend, we will fix that hopefully today. PS It is fine that we are sleeping on our ship a lot, cause when you are just on plain open water, there is no where else to go! No worries jim, we are getting it outta our system now. ;) Hope all is well in Turkey!
