We travelled to the south coast of Portugal on the 5th of june. Spend 5 hours in a bumpy, local train with no options for buying food/water, got us feeling pretty sick midway there. Live and learn kids, which has become our motto when somethings goes wrong(even though everything more or less has been going smooth so far!). Got to Lagos late a night and were in no mood for socializing. Therefore it sucked even more that we couldnīt find the hostel that we booked. Tired and hungry we finally found a sweet, old man who let us sleep in his guesthouse.
Next morning we went out to find our booked hostel, the rising cock, in Lagos. And with cock they mean roaster.. ofcourse! Pretty sweet hostel and pretty sweet place on earth. The coastline west of town is really amazing, with rugged, steep cliffs, hundreds of caves and many small beaches in between. And the water.. chrystal green!! Nothing but amazing.. One day we found a local guide, Faro(we called him), who took us on a hike up along the coast to new amazing viewpoints and beaches.
Funny story by the way, cause Faro is a homeless dog who we met in the town and just walked ahead of us all way, showing us a good path along the cliffs! Whenever we stopped up to admire the view and take pictures, he stopped up 5 meters ahead. Sometimes even coming back to circle close behind us befoire yet again following the path ahead. He ended up ditching us in the end at one of the beaches though, when 4 spanish guys apparently became more interesting than us..
Besides the the beautyfull beaches, Lagos is a partytown too and we had some good nights drinking with other backpackers. Yet again we got possitively surpriced, when we could buy 2 liters of good, portuguese beer for about $3/15 kroners. Deffynately good times and we met some cool people as well!
