With less than an hour's flight delays, our team safely arrived in Krakow and successfully went through Passport Control. We gathered up our checked bags (not one missing!) and were graciously met by Asia in the airport. She was sporting a bright red Thrivent Builds Worldwide t-shirt and holding a Thrivent Builds / Habitat for Humanity sign. We couldn't miss her in the crowds!
Asia gathered us like a hen with baby chicks, showed us where to exchange U. S. Dollars for Polish Zloty, and had already negotiated good rates for 3 taxis to whisk us to our hotel. A short time later, we dropped our bags in our rooms and met together for the first time as a team in the dining room.
Our journal's question of the day: One thing I'm looking forward to is....
• "Getting on the plane into the wild blue yonder." (Joanne)
• "Good team chemistry and laughs." (Dan)
• "Fellowship with new friends and the task this is before us!"
• "A nice big liter of Polish beer!"
• "Meeting the families that will be living in the new house."
• "An opportunity to serve my Lord and forget about my
current trouble."
• "Meeting again the Polish people I met in Gliwice back in 2007." (Laurie)
• "Experiencing a new culture and spending quality time with my Mom!"

(Maria)
• "Looking at phone books to see how many family names I can find."
• "A productive, healthy and safe trip, seeing the families, especially kids, who will live in the homes, especially spending a quality week with my daughter!" (Kim)
• "Seeing what a Zloty looks like! Having an ATM machine give me Polish money!" (Barb)
• "Working with the Habitat families again, seeing "old" friends and making "new" friends, both American and Polish!" (Terri)
• "Watching the team chemistry develop and seeing our combined personalities show themselves." (Chuck)
• "Beer is yummi!" (Denton)
• "Eating Polish food!" (Lauren)
• "I'm looking forward to representing my Thrivent Chapter and my congregation as I perform meaningful labor helping others -- and enjoy travel at the same time!"
And so, as hungry tourists on the loose, we walked to the Old Town area and enjoyed a delicious traditional Polish dinner at Morskie Oko Restauracja near the Rynek Glowny (market square).
Dobranoc! (Good night!)
