Yesterday, we boarded Regent’s ship, Voyager, for a
Norwegian cruise that will take us all the way to the polar ice pack. Along the way, the journey will take us to scenic fjords plus provide a glimpse at living above the Arctic Circle.
Raindrops fell as we pulled out of Copenhagen putting a damper on picture taking. Groups huddled beneath the overhangs on the pool deck, clinking glasses of champagne to toast the voyage. A large group of internet cruise friends is onboard and it’s fun meeting everyone in person.
Once again, Alan and I have assumed bodyguard duty along with a new assistant, Alan’s sister, Janet. Our charge? To accompany 89-year-old Kathryn (Alan’s mother, my mother-in-law) on a scenic cruise and deliver her safely back home again with no mishaps.
Tonight, we attend our first formal night and block party. At 6:00 pm, Cruise Director, Jamie, rings the cocktail bell. Grabbing wine glasses from our cabin, we meet in the hall to drink wine and greet our neighbors. Let the fun begin.
