Di's sleeping quarters
To crowded and hot for two
On Saturday the 7th July we sailed with good winds to the south end of Corfu. managed to sail for about 2hrs so Capt martin was happy. We moored in the bay of a village called Petriti, a small fishing village, then dinner on board and I slept on deck for some coolness. Over night we were subject to quite a swell coming through, but all comfortable. The next mornung set of for the island of Paxi and the village of Lakka. Took 3 hours and then into this magic bay with emerald waters and lots of other boats. Spent the rest of the day anchored out in the bay, watching people and boats come and go, drinking the odd beer or wine, reading, and cooling of in these magic waters. So nice!! Anchored in about 40ft of water but the bottom looks as though you can touch it. Went into the village by tender {our small runabout }, replenished supplies, had a few drinks and a meal. Fantastic spot and the evening with 5 of us eating and a few beers red wines and white wines, average spend, $16 NZ dollars each. No accommodation costs so it makes for cheep
holidays. Very hot and still.
Sometimes this sailing lark, hot days and hot nights, etc can have it's down side.
Mozies: As anywere in these situations these seem to be in abundance. Night time it is worth putting the repellant on and I have taken to sleeping under what we have decided to call "A Princes Net". I might look like a dipstick, but I feel safe and sound.
Wasps: We have had a number of incounters with these and in some cases we have been driven out of the bay we have wanted to stay in. They disapear at night of course, and during the hot part of the day, but they can be a pain during b'fast and dinner. Only one casualty from stings so far and that was Di when she was cooking brekky. She wasn't to thrilled as you can imagine and had a lump on her arm for a few days.
Jellyfish: We have only been forced to abandon swimming once so far due to these, so we hope this continues.
Fantastic setting to wake up to. Beautiful emeral waters and flat calm. Set off around the island and made

Pitriti
The village of fishing boats
for some caves. These were beautiful with emerald waters again and the shadows and and the cliffs towing above made the area a fantastic site to visit. We carried on down the coast to the next island, AntiPaxi. Stopped in a small bay for lunch and a swim. I rowed the tender into the cliff face to look at a couple of caves with that magic water again and then to a small beach. Rowing should actually be avoided in these conditions. By the time I got back to the boat I'm sure my blood was at boiling point. Took a long time to cool off in the water. we set off for a 3 1/2 hour sail to Preveza, a reasonable sized town and marina. Arrived to find the marina with good access, power and water, but no toilet/shower vacilities. Still a good spot and near town so settled in for drinks, dinner and a good nights sleep. Next morning a large turtle came to visit. Neat to see this. We decided to stay and take a car into the country to visit some ancient stuff. More ancient than me. Went to an area that had a Roman Aquaduct

Sailing??
Me in charge??? Yea Right!!!
going through it and a lot of old ruins of villages and forts etc. Looked around and when you look at how some of these places were made you wonder how they managed it. The aquaduct ran for over 70 miles and in a lot of places was quite well holding together well. went up into a beautiful river valley to look at gorgeand the flow coming out of the cliff faces. This water was ice cold and you couldn't keep your legs in it for very long. Beautiful place. We then went back out to the coast and made our way back to Preveza. This coast and some of the bays and small islands is fantastic and my thoughts are that we could come back here and stay in a small hotel at some stage and just absorb the beauty. The usual meal, drinks etc.
News Flash. As I'm in Norway we can watch the Olyimpics live, so we have just watched our friend Emma Twigg get 4th in the final of the single womens skulls. Fantastic effort and we are so so proud of her. We have watched quite a bit of the the games and feel

Night time.
Arriving back at the boat after a few drinks and a meal. Careful Now!!!
