So this weekend was super fun. The international buddies took most of the international students to a resort called Fagerhøi. While waiting for the bus to come pick us up, we saw a car spin 180 degrees. Then it calmy turns back around and drives away. This was a car with a family in it and they acted as if it was normal. Then the bus comes... It slows down to stop but it didn't stop, it kept sliding a little bit. So the driver puts on the gas to move forward but then the front of the bes starts sliding away from us. He puts on the breaks and the tail end starts moving away from us! I Seriously thought the bus was going to tip over! It was quiet scary! Eventually the bus stopped and the driver let the 5 cars that stopped go by. I had hoped that this was no indication of what our trip would be like to Fagerhøi. Luckily it wasn't. The cabin was about an hour and a half drive long of cloudiness and blah. But then we start climbing the mountain and as we get about 5 mins away we break through the clouds and it was sunny! It was super cool I mean we drove through the clouds! And then the rest of the day was sunny so that was nice.
So this cabin was in the mountains almost at the top! We were above the tree line so there were not many tall trees but LOTS of snow! Int fact the drifts we so high that the basketball hoop was but a mere 2 feet from the snow! Yeah it was deep. Another guy and I began divving a hole to see if we cold bury ourself, but it got too deep to be able to reach so we gave up. But it passed the time while we waited for the lunch to cook. We had pølse and lumpa which is basically a hot dog in lefse. It was tasty! Then the fun part came, we went sledding. And not just any kind of sledding but on garbage bags! At first I thought it would be boring... boy was I wrong!!! It was so much fun. We made trains of people that wet down and the funniest part was the crash landings every time! Eventually we all linked arms and we had almost everyone go down the hill at the same time! Then there were a few of us that made a circle... that was interesting. I ended in a face plant in the snow, but it was fun. A lot more than I expected. Finally we split up into groups and went to different stations. I was in a group with 4 guys and myself, so we were very competitive. It was also a lot of fun. I thought that the most fun station was where the group could only have 5 feet 5 hands and 2 heads touching the ground. Then they decreased it to 4,4, and 2. IT was fun cause we did it super fast. Idk it was just fun. Then afterwards we got it down to 3 hands 3 feet and 2 heads touching the ground with 5 people! I just sat on top of one of the guys so I never had anything touching the ground. After the stations I was soaking wet! But it was super fun! Then to end the night we had a party. It was a lot of fun to sit down and get to know people and have some fun.
So the weekend was a lot of fun. I got to know the other Americans better but also meet some more of the international students as well as a few guys from Gjørvik (another school about 1 hr. south from Lillehammer). And it was an amazing scenery change from the valley life!
Classes are still classes as usual. I don't think that I have done very much homework at all and I sometimes wonder what I do with my time besides check facebook! :) The Russian class taught by our American prof kinda stinks becuase we have a lot of homework compared to the norwegian classes. But the norwegian classes we have more discussion than homework. A lot of the time I feel dumb because I don't know what is going on in the world. Oh well! TI is still a lot of fun to be in Norway!!
I am going to go and write a few postcards and my norwegian homework!
Ha det bra!
