Narvik 32 secs
It is just simply amazing in Norway! I had it soo good when travelling around this country and I got very lucky with the weather from what I hear which of course makes it a lot better. After a couple of relaxing days in Oslo I started heading more North to a city called Trondheim about 1/4 of the way up in Norway, not a great deal to do in this city so spend the day with my French host walking around the place (he just arrived there as well) exploring. Not a very big place at all this city and since I only had one night there i didn't get to get out of the city into the country which I was really looking forward to.
Just the bus and train trips between the places are amazing as well! One bus trip I was on we were also loaded up on a boat a taken up this fjord surrounded by mountains, cant be beaten!
Next stop though was Narvik and my first time in Arctic circle and was waiting for the cold to hit but it was amazing weather there! I even got to see the Northern lights
whilst on the bus heading to Narvik but only for a little amount of time though. One really good thing about Narvik is there is a ski slope in the middle of the city pretty much, but there was no snow when I was there, but walked up it instead on the way to the mountains beind it. One stupid mistake I made was eating two blocks of chocolate before I started walking, I was straving, and going right up a ski slope after that was really bad! I only had half a block left in me by the time I was half way up.. But it was still a great day out though and when I reached where I was planning to go I had a 360 deg view of the mountains around the area. I didn't go looking around the city must at all though since the hike took most of my time for the day, made it back just before sunset but well worth it. The people that I was staying with I had stayed with in Ireland early last year so great to be catching up with people that I have meet before during my travels.
Last stop in Norway was Tromso way up North and it is a really happening city this place! It is the world's most northernmost uni town at N69 40 so uni students running around all over the place having a good time. I just happened to turn up on a Saturday afternoon and the lads I were staying with organised a party at there place so was one fun night! I stayed there for three nights since the day after the party we did absolutly nothing and sat around watchign movies feeling sorry for ourselves but that night I was lucky enough to see the northern nights at there best. Even the guys that I staying with were impressed with them and they see them all the time! But they really looked awsome covering the whole sky in green and dancing around flat out, was really good to see. So the next day I headed of for another hike up a mountain and when there I think it was -5deg by the time we were at the top and that was not including the wind chill either. Got to see some wild reindeer running around as well which I
was hoping to see and also a massive mooses walking around as well. Well I had a fantastic time there in Tromso and nothing could have gone any better for me when I was there, really like to go back to that place one day!
