Sitting in the airport in Kirkenes, Norway. Practically the end of the earth ... or at least it looks like it. We're waaaaaay up on the planet. Roughly a thousand miles from the North Pole, which from here is only reachable if you get on an ice breaker. The sun shines on small farmsteads nestled among green forests as Voyager sails into Tromso. We’re out on the balcony again and our cameras are clicking. 3rd June Sunday Trondheim Today Bob and Shân left us. Taxi driver Rune came for them at 9 am which was the exact time Bob had booked him. To get out to the Airport which takes about 40 minutes, it will cost them around 900 NOK. Lars,Val and I had a very lazy day. We saw Bob and Shân off and then I went back to bed, didn’t sleep very well, in fact I stayed awake most of the night. Had a couple of hours. Untitled David OGradyThe scenery is just getting beter and better. I am currently in Tromso. This is about 1000km north of the artic circle. There is about another 700km to go before I pass through Hammerfest and eventually get as far noth as you can go (without actually visiting the north pole!!). The destination is Nordkapp... the worlds northern most point (land based). Hammerfest is the worlds northern most town. The curent mileage covered is approx 4500km since England. Well! What can I say? Yet another amazing trip, albeit a short and very cold one! Orcas, orcas, orcas! Flew up to Narvik the day after Boxing Day (26 Dec in the UK). I had considered not going as I had a stomach bug but, as it was only a 4 day trip went anyway. On the flight from Oslo to Narvik-Harstad, as we approached the area, about 300 kms above the Arctic Circle, it suddenly went pitch black. We went to Finnsnes, is a lil town smaller than Harstad city which take an hour by boat to get there. Its a very nice place with lots snow there. Its even more snow than in Harstad. I met his super nice Dad and we're even welcome with a very nice luxurious dinner in a restaurant and get to the pub afterward. I met also his grandparents and they're so very warm and very nice people even we cant talk much interactively because i dont understand much Norwegian language. Its been a week here...pffhh, i got 2 weeks more left..its hard to leave but what could i do ;) ***2nd Day in Harstad*** The "Meet Parents" was so nice and they are just a lovely people. ** * JAKARTA*** I got lots mess since i was in Jakarta Airport *sigh* my KLM flight was cancelled, my ATM wasnt in fuction and it was running here and there to get other flights ticket that brings me to Singapore and finally to Norway *pfffh* well that time KLM was offering to stay at the Le Meridian Hotel, its 5 stars hotel and tell us to continue the trip tmrw at the same time. it means i lose a day in Jakarta and im really dont want it.
