I am not sure if it is because I just think I am too old for games or it is because I am not in touch with my artistic side but acting like various animals is not something I find that amusing. Sometimes we have to do things we don’t like, things we see no sense in - today was one of those days. As part of our dance practice, we had to act like different animals (it began with any animals we chose and then some our instructor chose). It is times like this that I just feel old. Most other people seemed to get a kick out of growling and attacking people in their lion form, or purring like a cat. Thankfully it only lasted half an hour but it felt like forever! Afterward we returned to learning actual dances.

We had our first scripture memory test. There were only two verses I was not comfortable with and thankfully, those were the two that were not on the test. After that we had a teaching on the power of our words. Have you ever just listened to your thoughts? I it is good that we filter what we actually take the time to say but at the same time we need to evaluate even what we don’t let come out of our mouths to see what is in our hearts. If it dwells in us long enough it will eventually come out of our mouths. I won’t go into detail the whole teaching but basically our words should be used to bring salvation (if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” - Romans 10:9-10), to praise and worship God, to witness to others, and to encourage and lift each other up (not tear them down or get in a backwards compliment to make ourselves feel better). In Col. 4:6 it says that we should let our speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt. We were asked the following questions regarding this to see if our speech was seasoned with salt:
- Salt makes you thirsty - After people speak with you are they leaving with a thirst for Christ?
- Salt preserves - Are you a person who brings salt to other people giving them life or making them rotten when you speak to them
- Salt brings flavor - Do the people around you feel pleasant after speaking with you?
- Salt brings healing - When you correct someone is it out of love or to bring pain? Remember it seems so easy to correct others but don’t forget to take the time to correct yourself first. Speak words of life not discouragement.
Remember that the Word of God has power  use it!
