The Kingdom of the Netherlands was formed in 1815. In 1830 Belgium seceded and formed a separate kingdom. The Netherlands remained neutral in World War I, but suffered invasion and occupation by Germany in World War II. A modern, industrialized nation, the Netherlands is also a large exporter of agricultural products. The country was a founding member of NATO and the EEC (now the EU), and participated in the introduction of the euro in 1999. To be updated

Our South African adventure has come to an end. We went shopping at Green Market Square and picked up so much our bags are over flowing. We then went to the V & A waterfront, wandered around, took some pictures and watched the sun set (very pretty)! The next day we went and climbed up and down Table mountain. It was a beautiful view of the city. Looked like the postcards. Its a very flat mountain that allows you to see the entire city. It was a clear blue sky and very little wind. Definately worth the trip but climbing was [View Full Entry]

And here are my feet...
...and a really ballsy guy.
:)

Well, where do I start! The flight was really taxing, I think the stop over in Hong Kong was the one that started it all. Rotterdam was relaxing, just spent time with family and, um, relearning my dutch. The hospitality that my family has shown me has been very special and I am lucky to have all their help. First stop was Reims via Belgium. Was a beautiful little city - well what we got to see of it anyway! This area is famous for its Champagne so we made sure that we didn’t go without. Unfortunately the really good stuff [View Full Entry]

Me in front of the Rijksmuseum before the start of our bike tour. Very cold and extremely windy that day!
Amsterdam: Well, now I am sitting on the train from Amsterdam to Berlin. It is about 3:30, and we get in to Berlin just after 9pm. Wow, was Amsterdam a great city. Our hotel wasn’t great, but it was in an amazing location, right in the middle of a major town square. There were all kinds of restaurants and bars and people right near our hotel, and it made it really easy to go back and forth to the hotel. The entire city was really small and tight, but it never seemed crowded. There were always people out walking the streets [View Full Entry]
