Tomorrow is the big day! Yes, Donald's team has reached the final, undefeated, and plays Netherlands for the gold medal. The team played England yesterday for the chance to play for gold. That game was a draw 1-1, so was decided by one on ones which ended up 3-2. Today was a rest day, so Donald took advantage of the time and rested and also had a pool session. His left knee has been sore, so he is doing all the right things as advised by the Team Physio. He tells me it is OK after he warms up, but I suspect it still hurts. I have convinced him, again with advice from the physio, to take an anti-inflammatory before his games at least for now, till we get home and hopefully he will go and see what the problem is. Anyway, we all have everything crossed for the game at 12.30 pm tomorrow. Tomorrow night all our team gathers for a Team Dinner, being held here at our hotel, so hopefully it will be a night of big celebrations. On Saturday most of the team head off home, with just a few like us, doing other trips. We have the World Cup to go to on Saturday and Sunday, where hopefully the Kookaburras will be playing for the gold on Sunday, decided tomorrow, and we know that the Hockeyroos are playing for gold against Netherlands, on Saturday, as we watched the deciding games on TV earlier this afternoon. Then on Monday, we leave The Hague ready for the next part of our holiday, the river cruise. The weather has continued to be very pleasant, in the mid 20's, with lovely balmy nights, so different to what we all expected. Just hope it continues. We have had a couple of drizzly rain days, but nothing that stops us from doing things. On Tuesday was one such day when the light rain came, on a day off, but we headed into the city area anyway, to have a closer look. We bought a day ticket for public transport and headed to a place called Madurodam, which is an area built in miniature, of Holland's Highlights and Heritage. It was very interesting. Then we headed to the Peace Palace, said to be the most photographed building in the city. The International Court of Justice is all part of the Peace Palace, plus many other facets. An audio visual tour we did was extremely interesting, and was the only thing on offer in the visitor centre, since there are no tours of the actual building Or grounds. By now we were becoming experts at getting on and off trams going on all different lines, but decided to spend time in the city area where we saw the buildings of the political heart of the Netherlands, located here in The Hague. Part of these buildings sit beside and on the edge of a beautiful lake right in the city, and it was a very picturesque area. We finally decided we had walked enough and seen enough, so caught the tram back to near the hotel. Last night, after a big day of semi-finals, was the whole Tournament Dinner at a beachside area called Scheveningen, The Hague's most famous beach. There were about 1,000 people there, players, partners and officials. It was a great night in the style of a beach BBQ, and there certainly was plenty of food, and drink, followed by a Band playing on the Beach. Again, the weather was on our side. Well time to get some sleep, and dream of a big win tomorrow. Love to all, Donald and Carol
