Laser Tag in Rijswijk
I am hard pressed to find anything more exciting this week than shooting my friends--repeatedly. Maybe ol' Dick Cheney was on to something....
Well, one more week down and I'm starting to feel a little fat and sassy, to quote a Don Hertzfeldt cartoon. I sit around at work all day, I'm helpless to resist the variety of the Shell cafeteria at lunch, and living out of a hotel forces me to eat out every night. No such thing as a hotel gym in the Netherlands, and I'd rather buy all new pants instead of going joggin around The Hague in rainy, near freezing weather!
Case in point: today I had half a chicken for lunch and in the course of this week I had a 16-course tapas dinner, a Thai smorgasbord, and a steak dinner. I think I might've done like 40 pushups one night, but the balance is clearly in fatness's favor.
I did however manage to get a pretty good workout playing LaserTag on Tuesday, for Lesley's birthday. There's something about the primal instinct to shoot your fellow man in the chest, back, or shoulders that gets the fight or flight juices pumping and makes you forget that you're crouching, running, and running into mirrors for 40 minutes. My thighs are still sore. Sweet. Exercise. I'll take it however

Stupid human tricks
Somehow, a group of well-educated professionals engaged in a show and tell of stupid human tricks including double jointedness, tongue flipping, and the grand prize: elbow licking. Amazing what a few pitchers of sangria will do. Way to be Poo!
I can get it (note: author is a proponent of the 12-oz curl).
What else happened this week... I've been taking it much easier than normal, now that I've started watching Grey's Anatomy (Meredith is a hottie). Oh yeah, nobody went quizzin' on Monday so Shruti and I checked out Syriana, starring George Clooney. Pretty good movie, if you're willing to think a little. It's kinda a quilted plot a-la Traffic (Soderbergh is an executive producer) and they don't spoon feed your expected reaction to you with suspense cuts or anything like that, so there's a sort of documentary-esque feel to it. Overall, it's a movie about big oil and human corruption. As a both a human and an oil company employee, I got a double dose of guilt.
Well, enough jibber jabber. I've got to go grab yet another likely overabundant dinner and then hop over to Poorwas' (who CAN actually lick her elbow...no seriously, you try it then check the picture) birthday party. Nothing too crazy for me tonight cuz tomorrow we're up at 6am to head into Germany for some snowboarding at Winterberg. More on that to come if I manage not to break any

Thai night out in Leiden
Even ridiculously cold and rainy weather couldn't dampen a night of great Thai food and some choice beers out in Leiden.
