... I enjoy all of these things and therefore when all three came along in one day i was more than happy.
Our destination of the day was The Hague, it's about 30 minutes north west of Rotterdam by train and so it was back to the station for us all (Except Erik, he had some work to do). We were going to meet the final piece of the puzzle you might say, Sarojini's Grandmother.
The Hague is a very beautiful place, unlike most of the citys in Holland it somehow seems to have remained un-scathed from the bombings during the war. We arrived in Saar's Gran's neighbourhood, it was picture perfect all the houses three stories high with extravagant gardens. In true Gran fashion the first thing she said was "I'm sorry but i don't have much for you to eat" and then proceded to lay the most enourmous spread of pancakes, teacakes, jams, syrups and tea and coffee i have ever seen.
Saar, Laura and I made our way from the house through the woods and towards the beach, by this point the sun was beating down and i must admitt i got very excited about
being on a beach in the sun. The beach was gorgeous covered in millions of small shells but there was also plenty of sand. Laura will tell you all that i was like a big kid running about, picking things up and chasing seagulls and this is all true of course. It threatened to rain as we reached the peer so we took a lovely walk back through the sand dunes.
You wouldn't belive it if you saw her but Sarojini's Gran is seventy nine. You may also then find it hard to explain that she lives right at the top of her three story house. She is a very lovely woman and like the rest of our hosts familys gave us our dinner as well.
I ate and drank a little to much in fact and felt a little worse for wear. I may have felt better if i had gotten the nap we were all very much looking forward too before we hit the town but Erik had friends over. We drank a little at home before eventually leaving the house at twelve, the clubs in Holland are open untill pretty much 6am the next day
so you can afford to leave at twelve really. Saar didn't know anything about the club, but wanted to go because we were on the guest list. The most welcoming thing about the club was it's metal detectors and reinforced glass ticket booth. Thu music was a sort of dance hip hop hybrid, and featured a continual mc that just sang random lyrics (So solid crew, the prodigy and roger sanchez???). I really began to feel unwell at about 3, half an hour later we had to leave for my sake. (I feel much better now)
All in all i really enjoyed our night out despite the clubs first apperances and the strange music they played. I belive the clubs name is off_corso... maybe if you're in the area, check it out.
