Keukenhof

Last day of Keukenhof, "Kitchen Garden", is located near Lisse, the Netherlands. It's the world's largest flower garden, covering 32 hectares with over seven million flowers! I had never been to Keukenhof and being half-Dutch, I think it's important to see and experience.

So off I went, by myself, to enjoy a whole day of the outdoors and flowers. I heard the food there was quite expensive (and it is!) so I packed myself a little lunch: Fresh spinach salad with walnuts, raisins, tomatoes and a garlic olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing :))

It was a nice and relaxing day with lots of time to think and reflect, perfect after such an intense trip to Sierra Leone. And a great day for photography, as well. I posted some of my favorite shots.

One of the new things I learned about myself that day, or something new I concluded that day was that I don't want to grow old alone. I don't necessarily want, or need, to get married, but I think it would be nice to share certain experiences, such as growing old, with someone special (i.e. a life partner). I realized this when I saw an elderly American couple with a younger woman, perhaps their daughter? The elderly woman, who was in a wheelchair, was rolling towards me. As I walked passed her and about 30 meters later, I heard the man tell the "daughter" about a small joke he played on the woman in the wheelchair. Apparently he sent her in a certain direction with no reason or purpose, maybe some sort of falsified "mission". As he joked and laughed, he told the young woman, "She's going to get so mad at me!" I was intrigued so I kept an eye on the threesome. Sure enough, the woman in the wheelchair turns around smiling as she caught on to his joke. She rolls back to meet the other two, laughing.

It's nice to share things with family, friends and people in general.

Not now, but in due time, I'd like to find someone special to share experiences with, such as a trip to Keukenhof :)
