Amsterdam Day 2

First I must say, wow, completely different type of day I had. Not gunna lie, the first day I was gettin a little worried, wasn't sure how I felt about traveling alone. After meeting a few people, I have a completely different outlook.


Also, I've realized if you spend longer than a minute talking to the local workers at restaurants and stuff, they really really appreciate it. It's not the reason I do it, BUT I am consistently getting free food and LOTS of free drinks because of this. I guess most tourist don't take the time to talk to them, so they can really appreciate it when someone does.


1:00pm-2:00pm
woke up and felt incredibly refreshed. Wasn't sure why until I looked at the clock and realized it was so late. Went to go eat at this kabab place. This guy offered me a free meal if I could guess his nationality. Usually, I am really really good at knowing where people were from, but this guy was too much of a mutt. He was actually from Egypt, I guessed Lebanese.

2:00pm-3:00pm
The weather was super nice today. yesterday it was sooo hot, I was ready to walk around naked. First thing on my agenda, after eating, was to get some ear plugs. I definitely learned my lesson after last night. Walked around for a bit and couldn't find a drug store. However, I did find this anti-Scientology group picketing around. Thought it was really funny, I got off the tram to take pics with them (check them out) After we took a couple of pics, I told them those masks look nothing like Tom Cruise, I don't think they got the reference, lol.

3:00pm-4:00pm
Took a Canal cruise, wasn't too impressed. Met this Australian girl named Yvette, she was really cool. Just one day she decided to drop everything back home and she's been in Europe for 5 weeks and doesn't know when she'll be back, she didn't understand why I thought that was such a crazy thing to do and apparently it's normal from where she's from to do things like that.

4:00pm-6:00pm
After the canal cruise went to the Rijks museum. It was really nice, had some incredible work from Rembrandt and his pupils, as well as a collection of artifacts that once belonged to Royalty.

7:00pm-8:00pm
Grabbed a few drinks with Yvette. I talked to the bar tender for a little, she was really cool, I told her to fix me something really special and she made Jager Bombs! She couldn't believe that I knew what they were!! It was even more cool b/c she gave me them for free!!. After that walked around a bit and saw this street performer. Probably the lamest one ever, he thought it was like the most incredible show ever, lol. I think this guy was too high to realize how cool it really wasn't. I mean he did juggle a knife and torches, but for like 2 seconds and that was the climax of the show. went back to my Hostel bar, hung out there with some of the guys I had met the night before for a while.

10:00pm-2:00am
Went to a rock bar about 30 minutes away in a place called Lindenplein. It was like the happening place. Really cool, Enjoyed it a lot.

3:00am
Get back to the hostel, hang out with this group of Irish people that kept buying me drinks, couldn't refuse, lol. I couldn't understand half of the crap they were saying, but let me buy you a drink is pretty much universal!! Really cool people, I couldn't understand it when they said their names and I feel bad. it was these 3 guys and 1 girl. I'm gunna try to go out with them tonight. The thing is you meet a lot of people but with cell phones not always working etc, it gets fairly difficult getting a hold of people and meeting with them later on. A lot of stuff you do just has to end up being on a whim. Which is cool, but it'd be cool to hang out with some people more than once.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I had ran into a drug store and finally got ear plugs yesterday. I went to bed with them this time... IN MY HANDS!!! I was sooo exhausted I didn't even put the ear plugs in.
