On February 17 I made my way south to s'Hertogenbosch - the capital of the province of North Brabant, a cute city, and the location of one of mom's apartments while she was teaching at a couple of schools in the area. She lived there for about two years and even shared it with a guy that ended up being pretty special - my dad.
This is the first journey that I have made, apart from coming to Holland in the first place, in discovering more about mom. The apartment is approxinately a 25 minute walk from the train station and, despite a really poor offline map app for my iPhone that was supposed to guide me, I found it.
It's strange to me that when I looked up at this totally foreign apartment, I felt a connection. I felt closer to her. It's just a building but somehow it felt like more. I liked the feeling. I liked the feeling of knowing that she has been here. I ended up sitting on a park bench beside the apartment and just taking it in - maybe the air that I breathed was breathed by her once...I walked

towards the apartment
hoping that I'm going the right way
the path that she took with her bike to the station, to the plaza nearby where she got her groceries, it was nice to just share space with her.
