the entrance Floriade Holland
We were so lucky to be in Holland to see the agriculture show that is held every ten years. It was held this time in Venlo, that is about 160 kilometres away. Not really that far over the excellent freeways here. It took just over an hour to get there. We saw soon that it was very well organised. An enormous parking field for thousands of cars was placed a fair bit away from the entrance, but shuttle busses took the many visitors to the entrance. There was no difference in price for Seniors ore Adults, but it included the parking and a single gondola trip, which was good for it gave a good overside of what there was to see. That was of course gardens, plants, and flowers with here and there a different stand that showed a movie or something technical, what was interesting. You really do not walk in places like these, you shuffle and that gives you tired legs and feet on top a very dry mouth, special if you are not particular interested in making the world green. Water was hard to find, you had to visit a toilet to fill your water bottle. On the

other hand there were some very nice orchids that have amazing colours, that makes it worth while to be there. The different countries that had displays just showed what the country made, not what they grow. Only China had a beautiful garden that showed peace and tranquility. It was a long day looking at lots of gardens, lawns and other stands. By 7 p.m. we called it a day and tried to find our car back. We were very happy the shuttle bus took us to the parking place, we would not have over lived the walk. To late back for cooking at home, that became a snitzel at a roadhouse restaurant. An enormous beer and the small fried potatoes tasted very nice.. Back in time for the late news and a late drink. Very happy to see our bed to rest our weary bones after this hard day. We leave now soon to our last place Amsterdam, but tell you later about that. Bye for now Liz & Allan.
