Dear Family and friends,
Welcome to the travel blog of Deb and Kels (with kels doing all the blogging work) as we travel to three countries within Europe - Holland, Germany and France. Hopefully this blog will be updated daily with tales of our travels and any half decent photos of ourselves.
As of now, we are seated at the dining table at Opa and Oma Riet's in Bemmel, having a glass of wine. We arrived today, leaving from perth at four pm and flying to singapore (5.5 hours) and then singapore to Amsterdam (15 hours with a very bumpy ride - mum was scared, lol, i was asleep). Robert, mums brother, picked us up from the airport at 7:30am local time and drove us to Bemmel (again i was asleep).
The aeroplane food was exciting, as always, all seperated into little compartments and packaged, like christmas, and on the second flight we had plenty of space cos mum bullied some guy into moving to another seat to give us room to spread...
Today we've done a tour of Bemmel by car and then by bike, seeing our old house, the playground, where mum and pap got
At the Airport
oh, they were so sad we were leaving... married, the dyke, old schools and friends houses, and a lot of animals - rabbits and thier babies, goats, horses, ducks and their ducklings, chickens. Took a heap of photos which i've included, many taken while i was riding the bike! impressive eh...
all the houses in one street are almost exactly the same, and i even saw a couple with thatch roofs - its like stepping back in time! the streets are brick paved and no wider than 3m, full of bikes and scooters and cars on the wrong side. The sun sets well after 10 and rises at 4!
And we've been to the local mall to buy all the toiletries we kinda left at home, on the bathroom bench... At this mall mum and I went to the local pet store, which was awesome! there were these massive bunny rabits, the size of small dogs, with ears bigger than my feet, sharing a cage with all these budgies and weiros, and there was hamsters, and hairless rats, and a massive spider, the size of my hand at least, guinea pigs, and parrots just roaming around, mum and i loved it!

at the aiport
the best photo i've ever seen of father... of the day was my running up to a man with a bench in the middle of the mall that i thought was selling caramel biscuits and was actually selling portions of raw herring, with raw onions and pickles, to be eaten like that!
Everyone here rides their bikes everywhere and the kids get wednesday afternoon off school and don't wear uniforms!
