Hello all once again! So I can’t believe I leave for home in a couple days. I just got back from taking my last trip, I spent about 5 days in Malta, a small island south of Italy. Since we finished finals last week, this was a trip all about relaxing and taking in the past three months. I planned the trip with three others from the group, Miranda, Sarah and Ann. Miranda and I ended up getting the last two spots on the earlier flight on Friday morning, so she and I went then and the other two came later that day….
We flew on Air Malta and it ended up being a pretty good airline. They gave us meals and free drinks and even showed a movie, Dodgeball! Other than Swiss Air, this treatment is something we definitely weren’t use to, it was nice! We ended up getting into Malta around 4:00 and got to our hotel by 5:00. To get to the hotel, we had to take the bus. Now these buses…well…they aren’t what you normally think of when you think bus. These Malta buses are special….I don’t really even know how to explain it other than
just look at the picture! Once we got to the hotel, we got dinner and then walked out near the hotel down by the water. It was a nice night.
The hotel we stayed at was pretty nice! It was one of the cheapest things we found and ended up being a good deal. We got a huge breakfast every morning and it was in a good location right by the water. The only thing about this place was…well…the other guests…lets just say if you add all four of our ages together, that was the average age of the other guests…hah…oh well..at least they weren’t that loud!!
The next morning we woke up and got the great buffet breakfast they had waiting for us…which was pretty amazing!! Then Miranda and I walked along the water near our hotel. We walked for a while and ended up stopping and sitting on the rocks for a while and just looking at the water. It was such an amazing view!! After walking around for a while we headed back to the hotel and rested for a bit on our balcony. Then we headed back out and walked the opposite way from
what we did in the morning and walked along the water again. I just can’t even explain it. It was even more amazing because we were all done with school and didn’t have anything to worry about!
We then went back to the hotel and got the other two and we went and had dinner in this little restaurant near the water. I had a pizza which Maltese sausage on it, it was pretty amazing!!! We then took our time and eventually made it back to the hotel and got some well needed sleep.
The next morning we woke up and it was ….yup that’s right…my 21st birthday!! I can’t believe it is finally here…no longer can anyone deny me from entering a casino….yesssssss!! I started the day off at midnight when I went to the water near the hotel and I jumped in!! :) No particular reason…just to symbolize the day… Anyways, we woke up, got some more of the good breakfast and then went to Valletta, the capital and it was about a 20 minute bus ride. We went to the market there and then just walked around the area. We then made it back to
our hotel and dropped our stuff off. We then got changed and got back on the bus and went to Golden Bay, a beach about an hour away. I went swimming even though it was a littttttle cold and we spent the afternoon there. It was very beautiful!! We then went back to the hotel and changed. We spent some of the night at the hotel and then walked around down town. Overall, it was a pretty good day.
The next day we made a day trip to the nearby island of Gozo. We took a bus to the top of the island and then a ferry to the island itself. We first went to this place called the Blue Window, which was basically this amazing view of the water. We walked all around the rocks and took some amazing photos!! We the walked around the island and eventually got back on the ferry and back to Malta.
Tuesday morning we woke up and Miranda and I went took a day trip to the island of Camino where the Blue Lagoon is. Wow…this place was probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in my life. The water was a very tropical blue and we spent the afternoon walking around the island and sticking our feet in the water. I can’t even explain how amazing a view it was!! …I have no real worlds to describe it!! That night we got dinner at the place we ate at Saturday night and got spent time chilling out by the water once again!!
Overall, it was a pretty good trip and a great way to sum up the past 3 months!!
