Well so I thought it would be smart to go to Amsterdam central and catch a train at 3:45 am to Luxemborg. After 2 train changes where I nearly missed the connection because we had to wait at Brussles Nord - right before the station for 45 minutes as there was something wrong with the track, I finally made it to Luxemborg at 10:36am.
This time I was couchsurfing with a girl, her name was Benedicte. She was really cool. Originally from France, and also having lived in Berlin, she was living in Luxemborg for the past 2 years. I had a lot of fun with her. I initially asked if i could come and she show me around the city, but I had so much fun with her that I ended up staying the night!
She took me to the Grund, nice little streets with cobble stones and laid back atmosphere bars. I saw fortress towers, turrets and winding, and underground tunnels (known as casemates). Afterwards Bene had to go buy a present for a friend. I thought it would be nice to see the Mudam, a modern museum in Kirchberg - a short bus ride away. So here
Around LuxemborgApparently you can walk throuhg these cave things in summer - though when i was there it was closed...
we split and I said I would meet Bene later. It was a really nice colourful exhibition. It was about 3e to get in which wasn't too bad - with my student card that is so make sure if you go you have it on the ready.
After the sight and museum I made my way back to Bene's. I brought her a bottle of wine and then we headed to the Cuban party. Her friend via couch surfing Christoph ended up coming and staying also. The Cuban party was good fun. It was full of couch surfers and salsa people - friends of a guy called Dan who was also big in the couch surfing community. Yummy delicious Cuban food was served and then I got to practise some salsa dancing with a guy called Matjid - who was from Iran. I also met another salsa girl that was from Australia - Michelle. I swapped peoples emails and it was about 3 when we headed home. What a nice night!
The next day - Christoph dropped me off at the Luxembourg eine Stadt im Museum. The museum had a good exposition on religions - that's what me
and Benedicte saw the other day. It was really interesting - talking about different peoples views on religions from different faiths. It was titled Believers and non - believers. And it was great as immediately you had to make a choice before walking through the doors - which door you would take - the one for believers or the one for non - believers. I spent a good 2 hours in there and also in the historical museum which was part of the whole exhibition. Then I headed back to the station and got the train back to Amsterdam. It was about 11pm when I got home and I was spent. As I fell into bed I thought what a nice weekend I had had. Originally meant to be just a day trip - I had been hosted by a super nice couch surfer and got to meet some really nice people and in general had a really good time. Thanks Benedicte!
