Oh man... so sorry everyone. Dad knows, but my computer has been a bit testy lately and I have been so busy I haven't had time to post something. So... quick recap:
- Florence (wow)
- churches
- BEST DAY EVERY
- Caravaggio
Okay, so Florence was beautiful. We went to the Uffizi museum and saw some of the most amazing stuff ever: Bottichelli, Caravaggio, Rembrant... It was nice to get out of Rome because I'm not a big city person. My deduction of Florence: More people, less busy (if that makes any sense). I spent my first ever HOSTEL NIGHT, which was the funniest/wonderful/frightening experience of my life. We had your stereotypical sketchy hostel, but it was just too great to ever exchange. So funny.
Churches = wow (I figure you've heard enough of me talking about churches... but I did see St. Teresa in Ecstasy)
BEST DAY EVER: okay, this was just too cool for words. So, it was my friend Neenah's birthday. After our excursion, we went to the Villa Borghese (beautiful garden) and rented bikes. We found a secret garden... I wish I could upload videos because there was some funny stuff that
I recorded. Then, just as we gave our bikes back, A LIGHTNING STORM hit. So we took shelter in a caffe and watched the rain and lightning come down! After it passed, we went to the Spanish Steps and had an impromptu photo shoot because one of my friends (Rani) is a professional photographer. The pictures are amazing. I'll put them up when Rani gives them to us. She wants to edit them first. Then almost everyone in this entire trip went out to dinner. It was just an amazing day.
Caravaggio: if you know me, you know Caravaggio is MY FAVORITE PAINTER OF ALL TIME. And, you'd also know that it was one of my life goals to see The Conversation of St. Paul in real life. Check life goal. No joke. pictures don't do it justice. *swoon*
So tomorrow we're off to Tivoli, and we're seeing Hadrian's Villa and Tivoli. I'm really excited. So I won't be on for a couple days because I'm also heading to Cinque Terre the day after and hiking all five villages. So I'll talk to you soon and I miss you guys so much!
