so its been a hectic two days...
there was a tran strike the day we went from rome to florence which created some uneasy feelings when they werent' sure if there would be a train leaving that day. many people were stuck in rome and we were lucky to find a train going anywhere near florence. we hopping onto a trian that wasn't going to the main train station but that would get us to the city.
we got there and waitied for a bus that would never come because of the strike so decided to take a taxi to the main station. we then walke to teh hostel. it was hot. and i sweated. a lot. but once we got to teh hostel it was really great! the lady was really nice and helpful and we set off aouple of hours later for a 12 euro all inclusive meal (3 courses and wine)...
we then decided to walk aroud florence and get a feel for what was goign on. we wandered and wandered and then met some interesting italian guys on teh steps of the duomo who tat and allie mainly chatted to. i took a walk teh duomo which i was in awe of and then joined them again. i found the italian guys to be very amusing as it seemed that they wre used to english girls crowding the steps. an english tour group of teenagers were sitting with us only to be soon herded away by their chaperones.
we walked back to the hostel and i found the compter and aim waiting for me, so i caugt up with some friends while allie and tat went out and did some dancing with some of the other people from the hostel.
TODAY however, tuesday, i got up at 8 and tat and i walked down to the uffizi gallery where we started to wait in line. we met a guy who was waiting behind us but he soon left b/c he bought some ones reserved tickets. we couldn't b/c my ticket was free!! but we decided to pay the four euros and reserve tickets o thahen allie coul come too b/c she wast feeling so wel...
tat and i then went to teh buboli gardens which were really nice and cool, a beautiful breeze cooled us down and we saw this excellent grotto which was very facinating...we walked back to find allie and go into the gallery. we saw the boticelli room (i know tht's spelled wrong) and his two most famous paintingswhich were incredible. we then all needed a well deserved treat and so went to get gellato from this delisious store....i had kiwi and dark chocolate. we then battled the market, i bought a new bag and tat got a wallet...it was great fun!
afterwards allie and i needed food so i had a flafal wrap which was very very yummy!!
we're off tonight to have dinner at the piazzo de michaelangelo which is meant to have the best sites of the city EVER. and then to a cafe/bar that does a beatles night! most def after a rest though!
pictures are to follow soon!!!
