so we finally made it...after 24 hours of travel we arrived with many interesting events in between!!
the goodbye was rather emotional, even driving through og was tough...but once we got through security i calmed down and decided to make the best of it.
our flight to england was great, it went by quick and AA has a new entertainment system!! i got to watch definitely maybe and the office and monk and 21 it was grreat fun apart from the intersperced baby cries which made sleeping rather difficult. when we arrived we grabbed our bags and then headed into the arrivals hall only to find my uncle was missing!! luckily i called his cell phone and he informed me that he was at that moment dressing and that we should grab a coffee and he would be there in 20 min. so we got some food and then headed upstairs to the departures drop off where he arrivead 30 min later =)
we hopped into the car and about 15 min later a man beside us informs us that we have a flat tire. hedgie pulled over and inspected the tire and declared it fine to drive on for a bit however soon after the noise worsened and the tire was completely flat! so he hopped oput and started to remove the old tire when the highway patrol came along and suggested that we get out of the car and go and stand behind the highway barrier with all the wild raspberries providing a rather odd specitical. however hedgie worked his magic and we soon were on our way to stanstead.
upon arrival we realized it was only 9 and our flight did not leave until 12 45 so we said good bye to my uncle after he gave me a generous gift and we went and got food and sat on the floor. tat said she wanted to go and take a walk so allie and i sat on the ground. while tat was away the fire alarm went off and allie and i watched as people were "evacuated" except we were in a safe zone...20 feet away. i was rather amused by the entire thing and watched as the security people told people to walk different routes to avoid the open space near us. finally tat came back and told us she had been evacauted...i was even more amused!!anyways our flight was finally boarding so we got our tickets and headed to teh gate where we took a nap. (i tried to buy a water except bought a sparkling one so had to go back and spend another 1 pound fifty...)
the flight was delayed due to something wrong with teh plane and then we were "ready to go" and then we got the runway only to be told that all flights had been stopped due to too much air traffic so we went back to our gate and sat for another hour or so. we finally took off and got air cond. back and the flight was ok apart from some bumby bits. they were selling scratch cards that my uncle said his filght attendent had never seen a single person win ... we were both amused (he a little less because he had bought one)
when we finally arrived italy we got on to the television bus which was about 100 degrees and sat for about 20 min we finally got on our way and an interesting looking black man had conversations about rather suspisious things which entertained me. the city looks very exciting and i cant wait to get out tomorrow!
