So... it's our last day in Rome and we are definitely sad to be leaving, but still looking forward to exploring Greece! We didn't update the blog yesterday, but there really wasn't much to say... We headed out for the Vatican at about 10:00am with a New Zealander from our hostel who showed us the ropes on the Metro. However, when we got to the Vatican we realized that we should have gotten there much much earlier. The line up went literally around half the city wall, it was insane!!! We stood in line for an hour and a half in the hot hot sun and finally Jess couldn't handle it anymore and we threw in the towel.
It all worked out for the best though, because yesterday was rainy and dreary all day once we left Vatican. We settled on a tasty pasta lunch with fresh strawberries, lemon juice, and sugar for dessert! Mmm... then we just lounged around the hostel for a while and went out again in the evening for dinner. We went to a really cute little pizzaria where we got individual pizzas that were bigger than our plates!! And so cheap! And sooo good! Probably
one of our best meals yet.
Today we had a great day. We got up a lot earlier than yesterday and decided to try our luck at the Vatican line up once again. Turns out everything was working in our favor! The weather was absolutely perfect today, not too hot and a little bit overcast. We got to the Vatican about 15 minutes before the museum opened, and only had to wait in line for half an hour. The Vatican museum was awesome. We took tons of pictures. The only thing we didn't like were the crowds! There were probably a bijillion chinese tour groups and they were all pushing and shoving to try to keep up with the tour guide, which made it quite uncomfortable for everyone else. But, there was so much to see at the museum that it was definitely worth it. There was even an Egyptian gallery at the beginning, very cool! We made it to the Sistine Chapel, but when we got to St. Peter's Square and saw the line up for the Basilica we thought we would call it quits for the day.
After Vatican we agreed that a few attractions deserved
multiple visits, so we went back to our favorites. We spent some time just sitting and looking at the Trevi Fountain, which seemed even busier today than the first time we saw it. Then we grabbed some more gelato and headed to the Pantheon. Still can't get over how big it is! Along the way we picked up a few touristy items that we hope to collect on all our travel adventures. Next we went to one of Sean's favorite places, Piazza Navona. There are a couple fountains here that are really cool, unfortunately the big one in the middle (the Fountain of the Four Rivers( is being cleaned right now. The first time we went to Piazza Navona we witnessed a shake down... haha some undercover cops busted a couple guys who were dealing knock off merchandise, and they picked up all there stuff and booked it right past us! It was pretty entertaining.. These knock off vendors are everywhere..
Anyways, after Piazza Navona we headed back to the hostel, where we are now, and decided to fill you in on all the fun we are having! Tonight is our last night in Rome and so we decided
the evening ought to be special. Later we are going to have a yummy dinner and then return to one of Jess's favorite spots on Capitoline Hill that overlooks the Roman Forum. We want to see it lit up at night!
By the way, for all of you not keeping tabs, it's our three year anniversary today! Definitely turned out to be a great day. Probably the best we've had in Rome, perfect weather, tons of fun. Just need some more gelato...
Now we're going to go pack and get ready for the rest of the evening and tomorrow mornings early start to Corfu, Greece!
Lots of Love,
Jess and Sean
P.S. We will be travelling by train and ferry tomorrow to reach our next destination, and we aren't sure when we will have access to a computer again. To the parents, don't worry! We will try to get in contact with you guys as soon as possible to let you know we are safe!

Hi guys! I can't believe it's already your last day in Rome! It's funny, just before I got the notice that you entered a blog, I had looked at my watch and thought about what time it is where you are. Must be a mother's intuition. And yes... I knew it was your 3rd anniversary. I can't think of a better way than to spend it how you are. Sounds like a very busy place, Rome... must be full of university students hahahahaha!
I hope you two have a great evening enjoying your favorite places. Have fun and a safe trip to Greece!
Love you and miss you,
Mom
:)

Hello you two World Travellers;
It is really great to get updates of your trip on your Blog. Now you are probably en route to another interesting Country and different culture. The Histories of Italy pre-dates the Romans and now you will experience the Greek Culture; we are envious; but we wish you continued great Food and a lot of sightseeing. Obviously you will have to change from the Italian Gelato to a greek Version. We know you will keep yourself busy and this experience is something you will never forget.
Have a safe Trip and keep the Messages coming.
While you are experiencing almost tropical Temperatures, I was skiing at Sunshine for 2 days.
Love;
Oma and Opa
