It;s 9>30am Sunday morning and we are just about to go out, thought we would write a little something first. So yesterday we had a pretty jam packed day. We started out having breakfast at a local pastry shop. Sean got a gigantic donut (of course( and I had a croissant with crema! So tasty. Then we headed down to the Colosseum to try our luck in the really long line ups, and they WERE long. We gave up on the Colosseum and moved on to the Roman Forum, BIG MISTAKE. We waited in line in the hot hot sun for about 2 hours. Anyways, we finally made it and got a pass for the Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum. The Forum was incredible! So much history in one place, we will post some pictures later for sure. It was so beautiful, we even got our pictures with Caesar! Well... his grave that is.
Then we moved on to the Colosseum, which was awesome! It was absolutely massive and there was a little museum inside where we got to look at some really old sculptures and stuff. Plus it was nice and cool inside all that stone! After the Colosseum we decided to head back to the hostel to cool off for a bit, and then we went out in search of dinner. On the way, we were caught up in a Million Marijuana March, basically a giant Ganja parade... hahaha it was really funny, there were cops at the front of the parade clearing the streets for a whole bunch of floats, and there were tons of people all over the streets smoking pot and just generally having a good time. Definitely entertaining. Once we got ourselves out of there, we found a cute little restaurant where I had spaghetti carbonara and Sean had lasagna! Mmmm.
Of course, we also had gelato that night. Every night this week!
Rome is a blast, as you can see by the pictures. We really love getting your messages, miss you all!
Love
Sean and Jess
